They had already crossed the border of Pyrrhea and had been traveling for nearly two days without a proper rest. The scorching heat they had grown accustomed to had gradually disappeared behind them, replaced by the ordinary warmth of summer.
There were still two more days before they reached the Academy. If they continued tomorrow morning, they would arrive just in time for the assessment. There was no reason to exhaust themselves or their horses by continuing through the night.

The village ahead wasn't particularly large, but its location along one of the roads leading toward the Academy made it livelier than its size suggested. Travelers frequently passed through, and several inns and restaurants could be seen along the main road.
They chose an inn near the center of the village.
