The feeling of his hair being brushed back by a comb was a tiresome feeling, considering he's been standing for over twelve minutes, his patience was growing very thin. He glanced in the mirror, adjusting his collar as Celeste brushed his hair into a slick ponytail, its shine thanks to the delicate amount of gel she used. After doing one last brush, seemingly putting as much pressure as she could muster in her frail arms, she made a slim ponytail.
"Alrighty little man, tonight's the night!" She said ecstatically. Siren rolled his eyes at his sister's excited remark, an embarrassed smirk appearing on his face.
"Alright, Dexter. Don't you get too excited now, I'm not about to be anything, just going to sit around and eat all the desserts." He said, confident in his plans to loiter. She scoffed at his rude remark as she gave him a small push.
"That's why you're shorter than me! Anyways, at least try to socialize, it won't matter much cause you won't see any of them! It's a free test run, basically! And who knows, maybe you'll find a sweet girl to rock her world~ " Celeste whispered teasingly, her elbow poking him as he sighed heavily.
"And that's why you're single, always thinking about the intimacy of it all," he said, as he clipped on his earring, a small thin black cross connected to a chain. Celeste swatted her hands on his shoulders, straightening out his suit.
"You just make sure to have a good time." She said, her hand going up to her neck as she scratched slowly. Siren opened his mouth slightly, as if about to speak, yet his gaze focused on her scratching. For a split second, her eye twitched, as if there was much more than irritation getting under her skin.
"A-Are you okay? I can stay and help if you need it." He offered concern clearly on his face.
"No, a bug probably bit me a moment ago, don't worry about it." Nervousness escaped her breath as Celete's gaze steadily looked away, as she finished the ponytail. Siren could see the lie written on her face, the key detail being her constant blinking. He let out a soft sigh as he gave her a convincing smile.
"Okay. . . Well, just call me if you need anything, I'll get back before eight," he said, as he brushed his black suit, his black church shoes tapping towards the door. Within a split second, Siren felt Celeste grab his wrist, her tightness almost desperate.
"B-Before you go, make sure you enjoy yourself. Stay out as long as you can and have a blast, be a teenager for once. I know I don't tell you this, but you have done so much for me, things that I should've been doing for you. From now on, don't worry about lil ol me." Her smile was clearly forced. Siren yanked her into a hug, squeezing her tight. He could feel her heart racing as her body shook.
"Don't say it like that, not today, not ever. You're my sister, and I would never forget you. Even if you wanted to burn down the whole world, I'd be right there by you." He muttered nervously, his tone a little shaky. Celeste patted his back, a relieved sigh escaping her breath as she gently pushed him back.
"You get out there and have fun, loosen up for a bit."
With a heartfelt nod, Siren exited the door, a somber feeling warming Celeste's heart. The itching kicked in again as she twitched at the constant feeling in her neck. She scratched faster, harder, more reckless, trying to get the itching to go away. The medication wasn't helping anymore; if anything, it was making it worse. By the second, it was like something was trying to crawl out of her gullet. Madness.
The cold breeze brushed against her face as she entered the high school gym. She took a deep breath, taking in her worries. The sound of her heels tapping against the smooth wooden floor, as she straightened out her black dress, small red snowflakes formed from glitter.
The room was filled with lights twirling around from the large disco ball on the ceiling, flashing the area with a mix of red, yellow, and purple. Pop music played in the background, as people danced around on the multi-colored floor. She looked around, Siren nowhere in sight, as she let out a soft sigh. Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all. In front of her was the punch bowl, the worst spot to be at a party, making that person seem extra lonely. A tapping on her shoulder caught her attention as she quickly turned around, thinking it was Siren. However, a tall gray orc stood in front of her, small round glasses on his nose. He wore a classic tuxedo and a small flower tucked into the pocket of his suit.
"Excuse me, could you hand me a cup?" he asked, his voice soft for his large size. Ana stammered at the sudden conversation as she nodded, grabbed the nearby plastic cup with her gloved hands, and handed it to him.
"Thanks, I'm guessing your date stood you up as well?" He asked, tapping a sip of the drink as his tusks began to glow slightly. She shook her head, a level of doubt creeping up on her.
"N-no, I'm just here a little early. " She insisted. The orc nodded as he stuck his hand out.
"I'm Jackson, you?"
"Ana, it's nice to meet you." She said, shaking his large hands, the firmness of the handshake was almost impressive. His black eyes were soft, almost like he was a nervous wreck.
"So Jackson, I don't think I've ever seen you around the high school, why is that?"
"Well, I normally stay quiet in most of my classes. It makes it easier to avoid assholes." He said, a nervous mutter happening under his breath, almost like he's nervous. Ana looked around as she bumped his shoulder.
"Hey Jackson, why don't you go ask that girl over there? She's checking you out." Ana pointed across the dance floor, a tall woman with purple hair glanced in their direction, her red lips formed a slight grin, her yellow eyes glowing under the slight darkness of the room. Her deep red dress revealed her shoulders with a slight puff around the outline of it.
"Dude. . . You have to talk to her."
"I-I can't, look at her! A woman that attractive is bound to reject me."
"That's like ordering food, but since it looks too good, you don't eat it! Have some confidence in yourself, women love it." Ana claimed. Jackson let out a soft sigh, and his tusks turned a slight orange color.
"Fine." He muttered as she chugged his drink as he started walking over there, shuffling past the larger crowd around him. A satisfied feeling flooded her heart, as if she had just done a good deed.
"He ain't gone pull that." Siren muttered as he sipped out of his cup.
"Have some faith... Wait, when did you get here!? I looked around and you weren't here yet."
"I teleported in, a new magic technique I wanted to test out." He said, turning to face her.
"Well, you look nice, I love what you did with the ponytail, it matches my little bun in the back." She said, patting her large white bun on her head. Siren looked up slightly to see her fully. Ana was wearing pink lipstick, with a slight blush on her cheeks. She also wore eyeliner, giving her eyes a bit of flare.
"You look great, I should've known you'd pull off that dress." He said, a faint chuckle escaping his breath. Her blush grew a little more as her hands rested together, folded tightly.
"T-thank you," she said, her face turning away slightly to hide her wanting gaze. Without another word, Siren pulled out a popsicle as he gently put it in his mouth, andd he grabbed Ana's gloved hand. He pulled her gently, guiding her as he found an open seat, as he sat down, pulling Ana onto his lap, facing his nearly blank face. Her entire face was red in embarrassment, as she covered her face.
"W-What do you think you're doing!? This is inappropriate in public!" She quietly muttered, her embarrassment growing more obvious as Siren took the popsicle out of his mouth.
"Do you know how many kids in our school do things like this, and nobody cares? Besides, we only have two days left; this is the time to do irresponsible stuff! But if you want to get off, I won't stop you," he muttered, going back to licking the popsicle. Ana sighed heavily as she wiggled against him, making herself more comfortable in this odd position. She silently wrapped her arms around her neck, pouting at him as her ears fluttere, ecstatically.
"You could've at least brought me a popsicle too. . ." She muttered. Siren hummed at her attempt at sounding rude as he took the popsicle once more, guiding it in front of her lips. Her eyes widened as they locked eyes with Siren's. The cold feeling from the frozen treat brushed against her lipstick as it marked it, tainting it with her lipstick.
"D-don'r you tease me jerk. . . "
"Thats the fun part. Payback." Siren confidently muttered as he gently pushed the popsicle into her mouth, watching as her shocked gaze mellows out, her body shifting as her eyes now looked at you with wanting.
"After your little stunt at the mall, I wanted a way to get back at you, without doing that. So I decided I'd tease you. Till. You. Break~" He muttered softly, wiggling the popsicle in her mouth slowly, never breaking eye contact.
"I bet your enjoying this special treatment, after all, no matter how much you lie, your ears don't. They always flutter when you get all excited, so I can only guess how your feeling right now. Do you want me to stop?" He asked, his voice raised to a soft mutter. Hearing his question, she slowly shook her head, a soft hum escaped against the melting popsicle. Siren could only chuckle.
" That sounds about right. Well since your really vulnerable right now, i'll let some words fall loose for you." He said nervously, as Siren slowly leaned close to her, rest his head on her shoulder.
"I like you a lot. My whole life ive been playing the well mannered teenage boy my whole life, acting stoic, being a gentleman, and trying my best to stay normal. But ever since I met you, I've never been more glad to throw that out the window before. I feel free. So from this point on, im gonna live freely, have fun for once in my life. So, Ms.Thornheart, Im gonna take this popsicle out of your mouth, and wonder what answer you'll give me." Siren claimed, so freely, each word falling out of his mouth like he's been practicing it plenty of times, yet his eyes held no such sight. His firm grip on the stick as he slowly pulled it from her mouth, the popsicle slowly, teasingly gliding along her tongue, her eyes never blinking. Once the frozen treat escaped her lips, saliva floated into the air as a little bit of drool rolled down her chin.
"Do you have an answer?" He asked teasingly as he tossed the popsicle away into the nearby garbage can. Just as his eyes wandering for a split second, Ana leaned closer, as her arms wrapped his neck tighter, silently pulling him closer. Their lips were mere centimeters apart, they're noses bumped against each other softly, a calm sigh escaping her breath. There was hesitence at first, as she stopped there, her softening light blue eyes trailing away, before she closed her eyes, her lips pushing against Siren's as the world steadily melted away. For the first time in her life, she was glad to be an Ice Elf. It was like her nature was guiding her every motion as she embraced the warm moment, growing more and more as time passed.
