Chapter 402 - Chapter 402: Feathered

Split down the middle. Envy couldn't believe what he was witnessing, nor could he even acknowledge that he was bested by his own previous rank. He tried to retaliate by using the severed body to split into tendrils and attack Bathory in such blind luck, but said tendrils would be restrained. "How did you-" He'd begin, before being interrupted by a wagged finger and Bathory's words.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk. You seem to have not changed, dear Envy. You tend to take a critical eye and assume the weak and strong in terms of character and casting. Pity, I thought you switching sides would let you know that such a thought process is flawed and untrustworthy." She tapped her son's shoulder to let him know such fears have come to pass, smiling as she sees his shock when he saw Envy in such a state. "You're thinking that I have something to do with this, no? That I was the one responsible for parting you and limiting your movement?" Her question would be followed by a nudge towards Mawkin, letting him explain himself as to how such a restriction came to be.

He'd swallow his fear as he'd respond in his sheepish voice. "D-don't take this too personally, now. You see... My straw is acting like ah...A rack, in this specific case."

"You trapped me..?" An expression of Disdain was on Envy's face, prompting Mawkin to panic slightly and wave his arms around.

"AAAAH! O-ONLY YOUR BODY AT LEAST! The straw stuck inside you is acting as a Pseudo-skeleton. Father somewhat told me how most of your body's one big slime. Even something with structure like sticks can act as a perfect backbone in some cases. S-so....I thought that if I implanted my Straw in you in a specific layer and attach it to your center..."

"Tch. You would basically restrict my movement from that point on." He hates to admit it, but Mawkin is somehow being the more dangerous member out of the two. The only instance he can recall being the perfect opportunity in implanting such straw was when he was predicting his punch earlier, the straw most likely leaking out and sinking into his body. Even with his lack of experience, his quick thinking is being a living detriment that has constantly left their notice every time they try to hit him, solely because of his passive demeanor. He shouldn't be looking down upon the Farmboy any further, as it's clearly putting him at a further disadvantage than before. "Okay, I understand it now. Just because you caught me however, doesn't mean that you have a snowball's chance-"

"Contrary, actually..." Crimsoñia interrupts, as she'd allow the Umbrella to emit a peculiar glow, the blood quickly changing texture from the sigil, as she'd begin to spin it, firing it like a machine gun towards the Tar Man. As she did, the magic took root, his texture becoming more fluid, yet at the same time, slowly putting him into a deep haze, his mind going fuzzy, his body wobbling like jelly. "If anything, it just means you made our job easier. Our main concerns were the children and you being involved in such interruptions. With the boys busy in their little tutelage of magic, and you now incapacitated, I doubt anything is able to stop us from slaying the King's child and bringing about the apocalypse." Her confidence oozed out as much as her charm, as her elegant steps were made towards Tsukiya, a raised hand being made, prepared to cleave her in half like what she did to Envy. As the Vampiress approached, however...

SHIKK!!!

A close attack. A swipe made by the now Drunk Humanoid, a splash of red wine nearly coating her dress and slashing at her delicate skin. Had she not reacted in time with such an attack, she would've nearly lost her back. "Desperate, are we? What exactly are you planning with an attack like that?" She'd remark, keeping her eyes glued towards the living Alcohol, watching him hiccup and drift his head around. Even with such a blatant weakness, the man merely gave a wide smile, bubbles coming out of his body. Bathory raised an eyebrow at him, until she'd hear a small sizzle, her eyes widened as she knew too late his plan.

KA-BOOOM!!!!

An explosion. A risk that Envy took to see what his new contents were, as a massive flame is now made around Rubix, the detonation quickly pushed out and incinerating the area as a result. Bathory had no choice but to retreat back, her Umbrella used to block the flames from his son, the two knocked off of the burning Stolas as a result. A Massive roar was heard once more as the beast looked over, now targeting the two Shadow Mages, assuming they were the ones responsible for such abuse. "Hic...Whoopsies...." Envy would sneer with glee as his body slinked down to the ground, Tsukiya setting up a Talisman as she followed suit. The two waved towards the mages as they'd let Stolas and Rubix now take center stage, a grunt made by Bathory as she tries to prepare.

"Damned wretches... They pulled a fast one on us!" She'd scoff as her words pierced like a dagger to the two, keeping her pace up with the Monstrous Goetia as it targets her first, whilst Mawkin ran like mad in circles to avoid Rubix's attack, assuming the worst once more. In truth, the Box merely stared at the Farmer, as it would set up some compressed air to act as a further defense with one of the Lesser Monsters, in hopes it wouldn't be involved again. "Mawkin! I request your assistance my dear!" She'd holler, as she'd dance around from branch to branch in an effort to evade the Goetia.

"YOU WANT ME TO FIGHT THAT THING!? I CAN'T WIN AGAINST THAT!" Mawkin would yell in response, catching Stolas' attention and having its massive head turn around. A new, easier target to hit. Mawkin sweats bullets the second he saw those bulbous eyes, realizing he should've kept his mouth shut instead.
