Chapter 437 - Chapter 437: Tag!, Part 1

Harvard would rush in, a spell casted on the button-drop eyes, a visible change from bronze to gold, as Criollo raised his axe to block the vision. The boy tries to grab onto the axe and pull it down, using it as a platform to jump off and grab him, but the Guard was quick in letting it drop, setting him off-balance, before taking it by the blade and flipping it, forcing the boy to fall over. Annoyed, he'd cast a second spell, a cloak spawning to make his body completely invisible, the very memory of Harvard disappearing while he donned it. He'd try to rush from the side, yet as he got close, once again he'd be evaded, the Guard flipping himself over, jumping over the boy's body and slashing the cloak with his axe, exposing him again. "Wh- How!?" Harvard questioned.

"Your feet. You may be hidden from the world, but your feet can still walk." Criollo replied, still keeping his guard steady.

Now Harvard was convinced this man was something else. He'd cast a virus spell to scatter the environment, cloak still wrapped around, invisible once more. Despite its approach, Criollo merely stood, letting his body endure the magic through it, seeing its dough starting to take a different effect, one in which his left half was starting to disappear. Furthermore, a glance up on the last place Harvard was has his shoes left behind, as the Guard sets up his axes and lets the frosting take root across the environment. The candies adorned in it would blink, small lights to indicate the next spell, with it slowly dwindling down to blue and red. A breeze escaped from the candies, a mist that had a peculiar scent. Such a scent would start to make the boy woozy, struggling to keep himself together, not out of noxiousness, but of bliss. As if his mind was making him forget about the current objective, only focusing on the sweet aroma that lingered in his senses.

Cherry and Blueberry.

One of them was stunting the mind, the other an addictive that lets the body shift intentions. Alone, it felt like a nauseating nightmare. Together, it was almost like a virus of his own, corroding his mental thoughts like nothing. Harvard had to fan the aroma out, whisking the cape away, quickly casting a spell of dry air to expel the aroma and let him breathe properly, shutting his nose and mouth off to avoid further inhale. Another spell was set, a Fire that was quick on stoking the dry air, burning it, an expulsion that launched the man back, letting Harvard rush in and cut the distance, an opportunity to tag the man. Alas, the Guard was quick in drawing his axe to keep the gap open, letting the colors flash once more, a tangy orange left behind. The boy's skin began to prick, even in a gingerbread-like body. It was as if something is riding up his spine repeatedly, causing himself to wobble and nearly fall over, overloaded with the sensory. "Are all of your candies just to specifically mess with my senses??" Harvard asked, as he'd try to see if his Monster Magic can even be usable in this state.

"Somewhat. Still trying to get used to understanding which candy can affect which part of the body. Apologies for my trial and error." The Guard replied, as he'd take such time to step back and keep watch.

"Great..." Harvard would look through his card to find an answer, noticing the Stone Hands and coming up with an idea. Two spells were casted, letting the earth erupt and reach for the Guard, prompting him to back away and block with his Axes, parrying each and every stonework coming through.

"You know that such hands wouldn't count as a proper tag, correct?" The Guard asked, before seeing Harvard set up a third spell, a box appearing around him and quickly having him disappear. Furthermore, when such hands were broken off, something was visible on the structure itself. A small orb, quickly expanding and weighing down the man in its general vicinity. Gravity shifted in such a manner that forced him to drop his axes at the current moment. The Guard tried to look around for any sign of the child, only given his answer as the boy appeared above him, tapping him by his head.

"Tag! You're it now!" A cheeky grin was made on Harvard's face as he jumped off. Knowing about the aroma that spreads out, his spell was set up in a way where it would trigger the instant such hands were broken apart. Furthermore, with the added pressure, the aroma would be smacked down just as much, only able to cover the ground as a result. The Guard can't help but smile as he'd brute forced his way back up, his steps becoming stomps, destroying the land in the process. Harvard was quick on setting up another two spells, two scouters that lets him keep an eye out for Criollo's moves. One was to trace his weak points and his energy flow, the other tracks his body and output, one in an X-ray like fashion, the other in infrared. Such design felt foreign, almost distracting him from his main objective, though such was not inherently his own fault. Because of the energy output in candies and sugars, the right side nearly had him overwhelmed in red and orange, signatures of magic traced almost everywhere, prompting the child to have it focus on specifically his opponent to get a better read.

Shikk.

A quick strike, one straight across his own body, crumbs spilling out. He'd try to look around, before noticing the sudden shift of aroma from behind. The man was capable of tossing his axe from such a distance, taking advantage of the newly confused boy, before looping around and tagging him from behind, carrying the aroma of brown, a nullifier on the body, a shut-off of his sensors on top of whatever trick Harvard was trying to do to ignore his 5 senses. "Tag." Was all the Guard needed to say, pulling his Axe out as he'd let the boy recover and get up.

Whoever this Guard was, clearly had more capabilities in his magic than Harvard's.
