Chapter 520 - Chapter 520: Runaway

Koina ran as fast as she could, making sure she doesn't see the Sniper catch her. She'd look back again and again in order to stave off any detection, but was slowly able to regain her breath and readjust herself. "Huff... Huff... Too close." She'd mumble to herself, slouching against the wall of a building, as she'd see the kids be quick in testing Applin's magic. With her hammer, Stolas would set up a star and see that one strong hit was enough to expel most of the heat and light from it, changing color and growing in size as a result, disabling it to ensure it doesn't accidentally cause a supernova. Solomon's barriers proved fruitless before the hammer, letting him see the holy light and even the small figures that were acting as such 'Numbers' to dance around the head.

Upon direct contact on the body, however, no damage was visible. Barely a scratch was left behind, whilst the energy behind the body escapes freely, flowing away for a moment before someone would toss the body into the visage and let them regain what they lost. "So it's not an actual 'attack,' in physical terms. It's a direct counter to Magic as a whole. I ask again, Harvard... WHY!?" Solomon gripped the Card Magician's collar and shook him like an animal trying to kill its prey, but the boy remained unfazed. In fact, he even had a smile when he realized his friend made a style that could work against other styles if in a pinch.

"What, jealous she can hit your shadow now?" He'd mock, but such taunting only resulted in more aggressive shaking, with Solomon gritting his teeth and putting as much force as possible to attempt in making it hurt. The Vampiress would try to interrupt, but Zazel put his arms up, a silent shake of his head signaling that he deserved it. Of course, she'd try to ignore, but the demon would keep guard, almost having him play defense and goalkeep away the girl from intervening.

Stolas, however, was more curious. He'd look towards Alice, with both having an easy understanding, once they saw the hammer. He'd try to see if he can snag it off of Applin and pull it over, allowing the two to study further, with the heat of the star now set atop of it, whilst Alice would increase the distance it makes whenever the Avian asked for space. To their shock, the effect lingers, an invisible aura of hot air emanating around the weapon rather than on it. Any sign of energy would repel it, even if it as small or vast as temperature. Alice would try to pickpocket Harvard next, seeing if there was a cold spell or monster she can work with: Mutation and Haihah. She'd be quick on casting both, her arms and body slowly freezing over in ice, almost like a glass statue in her appearance. Even as she'd blast down a whole blizzard, the Hammer remained the same, now with cold flowing around as a mini-atmosphere.

"It's like a living ward..." Stolas would mumble to himself, quickly reassured by Alice as the two tried to sneak the hammer back. Once they did, however, they'd notice Koina immediately. "Oh hey! You're here! You mind making sure Solomon doesn't kill my friend?" Casually, as if he was speaking about the weather, the woman can't help but sigh and contemplate on how she was drafted in such a precarious situation. She was quick with a brisk slash, letting the frost act as a barrier, freezing over both boys, before having them separate and picked up.

"You guys REALLY enjoy being a headache, huh? Have you kids found where Envy or Tsukiya went?" She'd ask, letting the two boys thaw away, with the Biblical Sorcerer's temper now cooled.

"We were busy trying to calm down Applin after an energy high." Harvard explained, just as casually as Stolas was in such blatant misuse.

"Of course you found a way to do that..." She'd pinch her nose bridge when she hoisted Harvard over her shoulder and carrying Solomon like a baby, as she'd let the kids be by her side. Not only does this guarantee protection, but when Bronx would thaw out just as much and try to look for who was responsible, her appearance would make her appear more elderly, like a grandmother who wishes to be taken into her home after a winter's night. A deceit in the public eye, a disguise in plain sight. It wasn't long until the children would find the Descendants, seeing them doing just as, if not, more progress than the kids in their investigation, mainly in communing with the members of the Wonderous Seven, as well as those near the area of such massive tracks.

"It was crazy! Like a monsoon of people coming in! One of the elites said they were stragglers that lost their home to a disaster, needing a place to live! I never thought such a kingdom could be wiped out WITHOUT a single hair damaging their residence. Usually they'd be gone with it..." One man said.

"I dunno. They smelled horrible, and I swear a few of their teeth fell out when they were moving." A second replied.

"Not to mention the fact some look horribly scarred. Missing eyes, amputations. Hell, I'm pretty sure I saw a baby who's missing their face. Apparently they're fine, but the fact they can still survive with THAT is just..." A third shuddered as he'd remember such a vivid image. It was clear this 'army' was being under cover, as the two Descendants quickly backtracked and be led into a tavern, one with no doors and large, wooden nihonga that depicts a myth of a man drawing a sword in a large stone, granted ownership of the kingdom he resides in. Spanning across were of that man's life, from the swordsmen that took into arms and fought for an artifact dubbed as 'The Holy Grail', to treachery against the man by his own son in exchange for ownership of said kingdom. Harvard would take notice and immediately looked through his cards, seeing the display from Mordred and Camelot.

He was here before.
