Chapter 46: Forever and a Day

The house settled into hush as the last light of evening faded. A few candles flickered gently on the windowsills, casting soft shadows that danced along the walls. Tiania stood by the doorway of Henessa’s room, watching their daughter’s slow, rhythmic breathing. Her little hands curled loosely against her cheek. Peaceful. Safe.

Henrick joined her, his footsteps light, his presence calm. For a moment, neither of them spoke.

“She’s happy,” Tiania murmured. “She’s whole.”

He nodded. “Because she has both of us now.”

Tiania turned toward him, her eyes reflecting the soft candlelight. “I never imagined I’d come back… not really. Not with all that happened.”

Henrick’s gaze dropped for a second, guilt flickering behind his expression. “I didn’t expect you to forgive me,” he admitted. “I hoped… I prayed… but I knew I didn’t deserve it.”
