Chapter 506 - Chapter 503

Gaba has always been bothered by the fact that she didn't take good care of Emma, which led to her sister's disability in both legs. Now that she heard that her sister could move independently, she was certainly willing to pay some price.

"A price?" Lucas raised his eyebrows, glanced at Gaba, and said lightly, "There's no need. As my employee, enabling Emma to move independently will improve work efficiency."

"Uh..." Gaba was at a loss for words, staring blankly at the city lord, her brown eyes shimmering with a strange light. At this moment, the city lord's personal charm made her feel that he was even more admirable than her own father.

"My Lord, I will work hard," Emma raised her small hand and shouted firmly.

A faint smile hung on the corner of Lucas's mouth. He turned his head and instructed Nicole, "Nicole, go to cabinet number sixteen in the inner treasury and bring the things inside."

"Yes," Nicole responded softly, holding her skirt as she walked out. She was more familiar with the things in the inner treasury.

Gaba and Emma watched with anticipation as Nicole disappeared around the corner. They knew that the city lord had sent someone to get something that would allow Emma to move independently.

"Do your feet still have any feeling?" Lucas frowned and asked. He wanted to see if Emma's feet could still be healed. It was a bit cruel to let a young girl in the prime of her life be confined to a wheelchair from now on.

"Feeling?" Emma was slightly taken aback, then shook her head in disappointment, and said softly, "There's no feeling."

Looking at Emma's appearance, Lucas guessed that she herself wasn't too sure. He got up and walked towards Emma, and under the astonished gazes of the beast-eared girls, he knelt down and held Emma's small foot.

"My, my Lord, no, you can't..." Emma shouted, in disbelief. Her delicate cheeks flushed a visible red, and her brown eyes misted over with shyness.

This was the first time she had been touched by a man other than her father, and most importantly, the other person was the city lord. This feeling made her a little flustered, and she looked up at Gaba for help.

"My Lord, let me do it. This will dirty your hands," Gaba also knelt down in a panic, wanting to reach out and hold Emma's foot.

"Don't be nervous, I'm just checking to see if there's still a possibility of treatment," Lucas said lightly. He looked at Emma's clean and smooth sole; she wasn't even wearing shoes. After a moment's thought, he understood why.

Gaba's outstretched hand froze. She stared blankly at the city lord's handsome side profile and quickly said, "My Lord, please, please take a look."

Emma was stunned, with no time for shyness. She stared blankly at the city lord who had his head lowered, a glimmer of hope flashing through her heart. She so desperately wanted to hear the news that she could walk again.

"Do you feel anything?" Lucas asked as he held the bear-eared girl's fair, spring-like little foot, pressing into the sole. The feeling was soft and boneless. He looked up and asked, "Does it feel ticklish?"

"No, it doesn't." Emma shook her head in a daze.

"What about this one?" Lucas continued, pressing on the sole of the other foot. If this foot also had no feeling, it was possible the nerves in her feet were truly dead.

"Huh?" Emma's brown eyes widened as she exclaimed in surprise, "Yes, a little bit."

"Really? You can really feel it?" Gaba asked excitedly, her eyes fixed on Emma.

"Mmm, I really can," Emma said with a grin, nodding emphatically.

"Before, did both your feet have absolutely no sensation?" Lucas released Emma's little foot and asked with a frown. "This feeling you have today, you didn't have it before?"

"No," Emma said seriously. When her feet were previously immobile, her sister had tried many methods for her, like scalding them with hot water or warming them by the fire, but she had felt absolutely nothing.

"From now on, wear shoes when you go out to keep warm, and massage your feet three times a day—morning, noon, and night—to improve blood circulation," Lucas said slowly. This method was to slowly revitalize the feet, and there was a certain chance it could help them gradually get better.

After all, she had no sensation at all before, but now she has a little. It showed that the body's self-healing mechanism was still functioning.

"Yes," Emma and Gaba responded in unison. Now, whatever the City Lord said, they would do.

"The reason for doing this is that it might slowly bring the feeling back to your feet in the future," Lucas said faintly.

He decided he would look up some information when he returned to Earth to see if there were any ways to stimulate Emma's feet.

"Yes," The two bear-eared girls replied in unison again.

"Sister, get some water for the City Lord," Emma nudged Gaba's stomach with her small hand and gestured with her mouth towards the City Lord's hands.

Gaba froze for a moment, then immediately understood. She dashed out the door and returned shortly with a bucket of water, which she placed in front of Lucas. "City Lord, please wash your hands," She said respectfully.

Lucas raised an eyebrow, dipped his hands into the bucket to wash them, and took the linen cloth handed to him by the cat-eared girl to dry them. In reality, Emma's feet were very clean; after all, they never touched the ground.

Tap, tap, tap...

The sound of footsteps came from outside, and then Nicole's figure appeared, followed by two members of the War Wolf Squad, carrying a box half a person tall.

"Master, we've brought the item," Nicole said softly. She didn't know what the thing inside was called.

"Open it," Lucas waved his hand.

Inside was a wheelchair he had prepared for Ben before, bought at the same time as the prosthetic limb. It had been stored in the inner treasury ever since. He never thought it would come in handy today.

"Yes." Nicole personally took out the key, opened the lock, and revealed the strange object inside. She strenuously lifted the item out of the box and placed it in front of Lucas.

"Master, what is this?" Mina asked curiously.

"This is called a wheelchair. It's specially designed for people with mobility issues." Before Lucas could finish speaking, he sat in the wheelchair himself to demonstrate. With just his hands, he made the wheelchair move, turning left and right.

"This..." Gaba and Emma stared with wide eyes, shocked by the City Lord's demonstration.

"Alright, you come up and give it a try," Lucas said with a light chuckle.

"Yes," Emma responded respectfully. Gaba quickly lifted her and placed her in the wheelchair, then began to operate it clumsily.

"This is wonderful, absolutely wonderful." Seeing this, Gaba's voice choked up a little, and her eyes turned red.

She understood that such a divine object, with its gleaming steel and peculiar design, was not something an ordinary person could afford to use. Gaba suddenly turned, bowed deeply to Lucas, and shouted, "City Lord, please command me as you wish. I will do anything."

"Come work at the castle," Lucas said with a slight smile to the cat-eared girl. "Mina, arrange a job for Gaba."

"Understood," Mina responded respectfully. The first guard had been recruited, and there were no worries about her character.

"Yes!" Gaba cried out, her face filled with joy. She never imagined that she, too, could work in the castle.
