Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Sunrise (Hidaka)

I ran as fast as I could. Battered and bruised, I still tried to sprint, hiding from the orchestra of police sirens ringing from every direction. Suddenly, one came too close, so I turned a corner and ducked behind a trash pile. Never thought I'd be grateful for human negligence, my heart beat like a drum, so I tried to relax, but nothing worked. (This was our best chance to repay the Peacekeepers, but now we messed up. I'm not sure how much we lost, but I remember a bag being shot open and spilling. I just hope the Peacekeepers will let us go....who am I kidding?

"Hey, you, stop right there."

My heart sank all the way to my feet as I turned around and saw who was behind me. He had dreadlocks and coffee-like skin. His eyes swirled like a whirlpool of caramel. He had on a suit with a gun in-hand, (I needed to run...fast.)

"Don't move." He pointed his gun at me with no hesitation. "If you try anything...I'll be forced to make you a cripple kid." (He's serious, isn't he?)

"Fine, I'll come quietly." I put my hands out, gesturing for him to cuff me. As he did, I ducked and back-flipped while kicking the gun out of his hands. As I landed, I caught the gun in my hands and pointed it at him.

"Don't move, if you try anything, I'll be forced to make you a crippled...officer," I said with a smug look on my face.

"Detective!" he corrected.

"Right...detective. So what's a detective doing on this Island anyway? You on vacation or something? Answer or I'll shoot."

"Corruption runs deep in this city. I moved here to correct that."

"By doing what...oh, don't tell me, you're another suicidal fool looking to take down the Kara-no-goki crime family."

"What of it?"

"Oh my gosh, you are!" I said, laughing hysterically. "You are so dead, there is no beating them, even the top hero companies on the mainland of Japan avoid them. To top it off, Aamon Kara-no-goki is a beast in battle. This is what I hate about you cops. You either slack off, get corrupt, or go for glory...none of which actually help the people."

He jerked forward, causing me to panic and shoot. The loud gunshot rang in my head for some time, then I opened my eyes. To my shock, the bullet had hit a wall of air; he had his hand out, and his caramel eyes turned from a whirlpool to a glowing cyclone. Pressure pushed against me as the wind around him picked up, the bullet fell to the ground, and then he smiled. "Force PUSH!" A loud BOOM went off, and suddenly I was sent flying into the air, spinning like a hurricane. (Damn it, I'm coming down too fast) I took out a grenade and tossed it onto a building; it exploded into a massive polymer foam, letting me land somewhat safely. The detective wasn't far behind me, however, so I cleaned myself up. Everything was spinning, and I couldn't tell which was up. (My hearing is gone...is this it...is this how I get caught...NO). Another boom went off, and the detective was on top of the same building.

"I hate using my miso, but if I hadn't, I'd probably be dead, sorry kid." I got up quickly and pulled out my chainsaw, the handle extended, turning it into a Halberd. "I'm not going down, not without a fight," I said while getting into a stance, (time to make those lessons with my brother pay off)

I charged at him, blade in hand, ready to hack and slash. He extended his hand, and off went another boom, but this one wasn't as loud. It hit my arm like a hammer and sent me tumbling off the side of the building down to the back of the store. He jumped down after me and sent two booms my way. I dodged and charged in again to no avail. I must have tried multiple times, but every time he sent me back. "I can't keep this up, my arms and legs are on fire, and I can barely stand.

"You're running out of time, and the police will be here soon." he gave me a triumphant look, as if proclaiming victory already, his arm was quivering a little as he smiled (....wait, his arm. His arm is quivering, the same arm he kept using to blast me away...all misos are like muscles, even my crafting miso. In other words, he has a shot limit; that's why he won't use that large blast repeatedly. I still don't get why he won't use his other hand, so I'll just have to play it by ear.) He can't keep going for long; all I need to do is force him to waste his power...I can win this.)

I put my chainsaw away and grabbed a homemade grenade with a string on it and handcuffs.

"You die here, officer." I rushed him quickly, and he jumped back and stretched out his hand. I rolled just in time to avoid getting hit, then grabbed a lot of trash bags to toss all their contents at him, making a smokescreen. Once he blasted those away, it gave me a chance to get close enough. I tossed the grenade, still holding the string. I yanked it, pulling the pin. "BOOM"! He let out another large force push, trying to avoid harm.

"WAIT, THAT WAS A FAKE?"

"Yep."

I grabbed his blasting arm and hip-tossed him into a wall, then handcuffed him to a pole.

"Later...you know, I do actually hope you succeed. Aamon has been in power for too long." I then smiled and ran off.

Pretty soon, I could hear police sirens and barking in his direction. I won't win if I stay on foot. Suddenly, dogs were right behind me, forcing me to run faster. My legs screamed, and my lungs felt like they were on fire, but I couldn't stop, not if I wanted to stay free. I could hear a train in the distance as I reached the local tracks; it must have been the island's cargo train. (Hisashi's number one rule of crime in Okina Island: when all escapes fail, ride the rail). The idea of where it was headed made me hesitate to jump on, but the dogs forced my hand; besides, I might actually find Hisashi in there. As the train zoomed past me, I frantically searched for a way in but found nothing. With the dogs and police closing in, it looked like it was over for me. Suddenly, a cart door swung and out shot a hand, grabbing me and pulling me to safety. I grabbed and hugged Hisashi.

"Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. You have no idea how much I owe you." I said with relief.

"You're welcome," said an impish and gleeful voice. His hair a dark black and eyes even blacker with a light crimson flame burning into my eyes, toned body but skinny nonetheless, with skin as light brown as an early sunrise...how ironic that it belongs to Liam.

"Hey, grease monkey, looks like I made it in time."
