Saffron PoV
I sat down in the bed, watching as our daughter dozed away. Demosnia's taunts echoed again in my head. How I would lose everything. I knew he did that to get back on me, to unsettle me, but... what if it came true?
I glanced over at Anis, her small chest rising and falling with the gentle rhythm of sleep. She looked at peace, snuggling her penguin.
Suddenly, I felt a pair of hands wrap around my waist. Rose pressed her head against my back. "Relax, Saffron. She will be fine."
I nodded, forcing a smile. "Yeah."
But inside, the weight of the nightmare god's words lingered, heavy and persistent. I took a deep breath, trying to let Rose's presence ground me. Her touch was warm and comforting, a reminder she was still here with me.
I rubbed her hands and smiled. "Once she wakes up, how about we go to my cousins' place?"
She blinked. "Okay. Although, I hope Anis won't fight over her kitty plushie with Osamu again."
