Niconora PoV
We waited within the tall grass, the sound of hooves and sheathed weapons clanging filling the air. I peeked through the grass and saw a group of people on horses, all dressed in green armor. They looked like Makkuroyama, but Daddy and Mommy had subdued the east before I was even born. Were they hold outs? Why were they here? Maybe they were allies?
The leader of the group was a big man in full armor. He looked like a scary samurai, and I could tell he was in charge cuz of his fancy helmet. His horse reared up and he yelled, "Onward, my men! We'll find that pretender queen and reclaim our freedom!"
Pretender queen? They were after my mommy. So they were rebels! But I what were they rebelling against. Mommy wasn't a tyrant like my granny was. Why did they wish for freedom? Did they not already have it?
