I smiled as I grabbed the garden hoe and raised it up high. My little arms trembled as I did. It was gonna be planting season soon, and I wanted to help Mom get the farm ready. I had watched her and my uncles work the soil countless times, and this year, I felt ready to contribute.
"Okay, here we go!" I said to myself, imagining that I was a great farmer, just like the ones in the stories Mom read to me at night. I took a deep breath and brought the hoe down into the hardbearth, creating a shallow hole. My arms trembled. Ugh, my uncles and mom made this easier than it actually was!
I huffed and pulled the hoe back, trying again with all my might. I concentrated, putting my weight into it, and this time I managed to make a slightly deeper hole.
"Yes! I did it!" I cheered, feeling proud of my progress.
