"Mommy?" Vadim mumbled as he poked his head into my bedroom. He rubbed his eyes, his hair a messy tangle around his face. Woofie was trailing behind him, her tail wagging slowly.
"Good morning, sweetheart," I said, my voice soft. "Did you sleep well?"
He nodded, his eyes wide with curiosity as he looked around the room. "Where's Sir Wolfgango?" he asked, his voice filled with a childlike innocence that made my heart ache.
"He's just outside, getting the fire ready for my shower," I replied, kneeling down to his level.
He smiled. "That's nice! I wanna be a gentleman like him!"
I smiled. "He'd like that. But right now, you need to get ready for the day. Can you be a big boy and get dressed all by yourself?"
He puffed out his chest, his small frame filled with a newfound determination. "Yes, Mommy!" he declared, his voice filled with pride. "I can do it! Let's go, Wolfie!"
