The throne descended further. Eizan and Kira's bodies were covered in the run away ice from Kira's body as well as the shadows emanating from the stolen Dog's authority.
"Keep your boots up, Kazuo," Amaya warned, her arms tightening around my waist as she tilted the control spheres forward. "That shadow isn't stable mana anymore. It's a severed authority looking for an anchor. If it touches your skin, it'll try to root itself in you."
"I know," I muttered, leaning back into her lap and pulling my legs clear of the pooling dark. "Eizan gave everything to wield it during the breach, but without his living will to direct it, the Dog's power is running wild."
Caelio glanced at Vadim. "The lingering authority isn't the only thing at risk of running wild. Look at the late King Consort."
Our widened as we noticed roots were coming out of his neck. They were giving off the same eerie glow as Reginald's earlier vines.
