Redon clenched his fists with glee as he stared at the massive veil looming in the distance.
'It's finally time.'
Months had passed since he was defeated by Atticus and had to join their ranks. He had endured in silence, biding his time as more and more of his spirit people were gathered, their numbers swelling into what could now be considered a truly fearsome army.
'And to think… I was actually worried.'
Just a few months ago, he had openly clashed with Atticus during a meeting over his abrupt decision to halt their advance and participate in a competition.
He had lost, and in that moment, Redon had truly feared that his mission would end in failure.
'Just a few more minutes.'
But months ago, after Atticus and the others returned from their journey, they had resumed their ascent through the Span at a speed far surpassing anything they had shown before.
Now, there were mere minutes remaining before the territory's protection vanished and the veil finally fell.
