Just as Houqin struggled to come up with an answer, her mother surprised everyone as she spoke up in her defense.
"Old man, why don't you let them resolve it themselves? Let the youngsters do what's best for themselves."
Houqin's father opened his mouth, but no words came out in the end as he only shook his head before walking right past her own daughter.
"Hope you don't regret it..."
"Thank you."
As the three of them watched him enter a separate room, Houqin's mother quickly turned her attention back over to Xiaoyun.
"Ahem, since you call me mother-in-law earlier, when are you two marrying and giving me a grandkid?"
"Mom!"
"Um, there are a lot of things going on in the town right now that need my attention, but after I sort everything out, I'll give her a proper wedding."
Xiaoyun's serious response made Houqin shyly turn around towards the wall, unable to look back at him in the face.
