Chapter 78 — Region of Frost VIII: Fade into Truth
The ice barrier does not fall. Does not wane in power as the day goes on. It pulses with even more Videle. Inside, inside the confines of the barrier—Zarracen's body contorts in agony. Agony that freezes Isabella's heart. Creates lumps in her throat from worry and brings useless tears to her eyes that she refuses to let fall.
Reality sets in. Her cold demeanor. Her confidence. Her capabilities as a magician. None of this could stop her from losing the last bit of the good times as her childhood. The only thing that could stop it was trapped inside that damned barrier with her.
She feels nothing short of a fury strong enough to cast storms warring inside her. The idea that Zarracen would die becoming embedded into her brain. This was her knight. The woman that has bent the knee to her. Has softened herself towards her. And yet here she was useless to save the woman.
