Duke Redington was not an unreasonable man.
If Mason Scott hadn't publicly insulted Lily by calling her a bastard and casting suspicions on Sylvia Scott's behavior,
and had Wendy Jenkins not slandered his two most beloved women at the press conference, he wouldn't have used the nation's weaponry to blackmail the Scotts into issuing an apology.
If necessary, Duke Redington could eliminate the Scott couple without anyone noticing.
But he wasn't acting merely out of spite; what he wanted was to vindicate his wife and daughter.
Lily clearly understood the Duke's intentions and knew he wasn't one to harm the innocent without cause.
Lily was no saint either; she believed her father had his reasons.
"Mm, I understand," Lily nodded and didn't ask further.
