Keira Leaf remained silent for a moment. The woman in the photos was still smiling radiantly, her black-and-white eyes so clear they seemed like water could drip from them.
"Alice, you must have already known that I placed Alexandra Lee by his side."
"The original intent was to provoke Amelia Leaf, make her act against Alexandra, and by then, he'd be able to follow the trail and uncover the murderer who harmed you that year."
"But now it seems, the biggest fool is still me. Shane Winchester must have figured it out long ago too."
After a long while, Keira Leaf spoke again, "He's always missed you."
She said no more. Keira Leaf stood in the autumn wind for a while before turning around, stepping on the stone-paved path, and slowly leaving.
"Alice, did I bungle things completely? But, would you blame me?"
Keira Leaf sighed softly and walked out of the mausoleum.
