Howard's tears swirled in his eyes, his vision blurred with teary eyes as he looked at Annie Taylor and asked, "Auntie, where's my sister? Why are they saying my sister is gone..."
Annie Taylor was momentarily speechless, but she quickly spoke again, "Your sister is still here. It's just that her health isn't good, so she needs to stay longer in mum's belly. Next summer, you'll be able to see her."
Howard stared blankly at her, seemingly contemplating her words.
Beside him, Jack also raised his head, his eyes red as well, but no tears fell.
Annie Taylor gently held the two children and spoke softly, "So don't worry, be patient. Once your sister has recovered during this time and next spring brings warmth and blooming flowers, you'll be able to play with her."
"Really?" Howard sounded a bit skeptical.
"Of course it's true," Annie Taylor affirmed.
