Charles Chill still held Keira Leaf on the sofa, seemingly unaware of what reaction he should have at this moment. However, as Mr. Benson suggested, he did look apologetically toward Joshua Sulliven and said, "I had only heard of Mrs. Sulliven's beauty before, and truly did not expect her to be as lovely as a flower. I really didn't realize she was Young Master Sulliven's wife; my apologies for the offense."
It was only after these words were spoken that Charles Chill slowly released Keira Leaf's waist, still seeming somewhat reluctant.
Keira Leaf remained quietly seated on Charles Chill's leg, not yet snapped back to reality, only looking somewhat longingly at Joshua Sulliven's handsome face.
Joshua Sulliven could not endure it for even another minute or second. He raised a hand and yanked Keira Leaf up from him, pulling her in front of him, gripping her neck with one hand, as he gazed down at her, articulating each word in a cold voice, "Do you not understand what I said?"
