One hour later, it was almost 8:30. Keira Leaf's stomach was growling with hunger. Seeing the dishes were almost ready, she picked up a piece with chopsticks to taste it herself, to avoid Master Sydney using "it's not tasty" as an excuse later.
But who knew, just after a piece of chicken entered her mouth, a voice sounded from behind: "Sneaking a bite?"
Keira was startled immensely. Additionally, the chicken was still a bit hot. In an instant, she swallowed it, unable to speak from the heat, her eyes misted over with tears.
Jacob Sydney glanced at her lightly and turned to pour her a cup of warm water.
Keira took it and drank a few large gulps in a hurry. It took several seconds before she breathed out a sigh of relief, glaring fiercely at Jacob Sydney. But since he handed her the water, she figured he still had some conscience, so she didn't bother arguing with him anymore.
