He had already called her in the afternoon, saying he would be back a bit late today and she shouldn't wait for him for dinner.

"You must be hungry too. I made dumplings this afternoon. Come and try them, see if they taste good!" Emily smiled and then wrapped her hand around Lorne Noah Jackson's arm, pulling him toward the restaurant.
Lorne Noah Jackson said nothing, simply letting her lead him into the restaurant.
The servant brought out freshly cooked dumplings and sauce.
"This sauce was personally made by Miss Emily. Young Master William, try it and see what you think!" the servant said with a smile.
Emily quickly handed him the chopsticks, looking at him expectantly.

Lorne Noah Jackson nodded, picked up a dumpling, and put it into his mouth, beginning to slowly savor it.
Although the taste wasn't particularly outstanding, it was still quite good.
The dumplings she made were, to him, a unique delicacy.
