Philip Shaw gently stroked her hair and softly said, "Let's eat."
He led her to the dining room for dinner.
Ellen Candi sat at the table, looked up towards him, and noticed Philip Shaw was lost in thought again.
"Philip, Philip." She called his name, "Do you have something on your mind?"
Philip Shaw raised his head to look at her, "No. Why do you ask?"
"You've been so cold to me lately." Ellen Candi poked her food with chopsticks, "You hardly play with me anymore."
As her memory faded, her mind seemed to shrink as well.
Like a child.
Philip Shaw smiled lightly, "Maybe it's because work's been a bit hectic lately."
Ellen Candi responded with an "Ah," "Busy these days?"
"A little."
He brushed it off casually, telling a lie.
Such insignificant lies come so easily.
He couldn't possibly tell her that he was thinking of someone else.
He felt his reactions were slow.
