The next day, Aldana Candi was awakened by the cold.
Though the early spring weather wasn't as severe as the deep winter, it was still the temperature that required a thin quilt for comfort. Facing a whole night of being unable to warm an ice block beside her, it was hardly a night of comfort.
Groggily, she opened her eyes to find daylight streaming in, feeling the chill behind her persistently creeping in. Unable to resist, she pushed away Philip Shaw's hand resting on her waist and sat up from the bed.
She lowered her head to rub her shoulder; after being frozen all night, her joints felt stiff. She really hadn't expected Philip Shaw's body temperature to have fallen to a level that anyone would find intolerable.
How was he feeling now?
Aldana paused, unable to help but look down at Philip Shaw, who lay motionless wrapped in the quilt.
