Jane Sampson knew when to quit while she was ahead. Noticing that James Black glanced her way, she immediately stopped talking and stood there with a dopey smile. While James Black might not shine in the kitchen, he was efficient at getting things done.
Even boiling dumplings, which hardly required any culinary skills, didn't pose a problem for him. Jane stood by and watched. As James dropped each dumpling in, she provided a different voiceover for the dumplings.
"Yay, time to swim in the sea, daddy let go~ I want to rush into the embrace of the ocean!" It was so childish and milky-voiced that if you didn't listen carefully, you'd think it was the voice of a seven or eight-year-old girl.
James's hand that was dropping the dumplings suddenly shook, but he showed no other reaction and continued to put dumplings from the plate into the pot.
