August 13th — it's been five days since the BW1 and the other five ships set sail from the port of the Kakin Empire.
Five days is more than enough time for anything unpredictable to happen.
But they've already sailed past the range where they can directly communicate with the Known World.
Now, the continent has no way to get real-time updates from them.
If they want to contact the Known World, BW1 and the five ships have to rely on supply airships flying back and forth through the skies.
However, once they enter the more dangerous parts of the sea, even the sky won't be safe anymore.
At that point, the airships will no longer be able to follow them.
Eventually, the five smaller ships will retreat into BW1's internal docks—like baby kangaroos returning to their mother's pouch—entering through five separate gates to take shelter.
At that moment, BW1 and the five ships will become six isolated islands floating in the vast ocean, cut off almost completely from the rest of the human world.
Only after they reach the so-called "New Continent" and establish a stable sea route between it and the Known World will communication be restored.
That's still months—or maybe even longer—away.
Germain currently has no way to contact the Hunter Association's exploration team.
Even Cluck's Nen ability can't get birds to fly across this ocean—it's far more dangerous and unstable than the seas near the Known World.
Unlike Dwun, who paces around nervously all day muttering to himself, Germain remains calm and composed, doing things at his own steady pace.
He went to see Abengane and asked for another Nen Exorcism.
The last time Abengane removed Germain's curses was back on July 28th—half a month ago. By now, Abengane has fully recovered his energy.
This time, Abengane removed two of Germain's "Negative Traits": Anxious and Obsession with the Supernatural.
Now, the only "Negative Trait" left on Germain is a minor one—Pale.
It's so insignificant that Germain's "Champion Physique" easily overrides it.
After the cleansing, Germain and Abengane discussed the management situation on Greed Island.
List had gone with the Hunter Association's expedition and would try to establish a link between Greed Island and the new continent.
With this change, the tasks originally handled by List on Greed Island had to be reassigned to other members.
Although they now had Ickshonpe, a workaholic who was online 24/7, there were still things that even a digital resident like him couldn't do.
Ickshonpe was stubborn and refused to leave the virtual world, so any tasks involving the real world had to be handled by Dwun.
Dwun couldn't manage the mountain of work alone, so after consulting with people like Germain, Granny Linne, and Razor, he decided to promote Abengane.
Abengane had been waiting for this opportunity for a long time.
Now that he finally made it into the core leadership of Greed Island, he was too excited to sleep the night he heard the news.
He knew exactly who cast the deciding vote in his favor.
After the exorcism was over, he planned to ask Germain many questions to understand his vision for Greed Island's future — and promised to carry out those ideals.
If there were factions within Greed Island, Abengane was definitely on Team Germain.
He even volunteered to perform another exorcism for Germain in half a month, once he'd fully recovered — to remove the final "negative trait."
Originally, this job could've been left to Hina. By then, her "Demon Child That Will Never Be Born" ability would have disappeared, and she could exorcise again.
But Abengane didn't want Germain to think he had changed after getting promoted — like he thought the job was now beneath him.
A lot of people who rise through the ranks end up thinking that way.
They believe their current position is entirely due to their own efforts — forgetting the ones who believed in them early on.
People who lack that self-awareness usually don't end well.
Abengane would never make that kind of rookie mistake. He had come this far, and he was aiming even higher — one step at a time toward the top.
If he wanted to realize his ambitions for power, he knew he couldn't do it without Germain's support.
Still, Germain told him to rest properly.
Because Germain didn't want to wait another half a month — he was about to head back to the Dark Continent soon.
A few days ago, Shizuku also sent a message saying she'd be coming back soon.
While waiting for her return, Germain had nothing to do, so he used his Game Master privileges again and flew over to where Killua and Gon were.
By this time, both Alluka and Nanika had already entered Greed Island, joining Killua and Gon's team—though Alluka was there in a "virtual avatar" form.
When Germain arrived, he was surprised to see that their team had gained some new members.
Gon excitedly introduced their new companions to Germain.
They were Hanzo and Pokkle, who had taken the Hunter Exam the same year as Gon and Killua.
"They're just like us," Gon said—by "us," he meant him and Killua. "They also applied to join the Hunter Association's exploration team, but didn't make it through."
"We just happened to run into them in the Magic City of Masadora. They were still beginners in Greed Island and didn't know much about how things work here, so we invited them to join our team."
"We originally wanted to invite Leorio too, but he said he's already gotten into the Fanlīn Medical College and is currently focused on studying both medicine and Nen. He couldn't come join us this time."
As Gon finished, he looked a little disappointed.
