Chapter 86 - Chapter 86: First Confrontation in the Sea: Chameleon vs Homelander

On the beach, streams of blood flowed around Wade, leaving graffiti on the nearby reefs and sand.

He floated in the air, looking at Black Noir, who had been reduced to a dried corpse below, and muttered, "Since I've sent you to meet God, I might as well borrow your body."

Strings of bloody English characters continuously appeared behind Black Noir's corpse: "Who's next?"

"Payback, this is just the beginning!"

"Vought's doomsday bell is ringing."

After Wade took photos from various angles, he put his phone and a large tube of spinal fluid into a waterproof bag.

He came to Black Noir's corpse, felt the completely silenced abundant life force, and sighed, "Your hyper-fast healing is quite good. It's perfect for me to use as a base for other serums."

The Nexus Temporary Supe Serum he created is used by ordinary people. It is temporary after injection, making it impossible for them to develop advanced methods for using their powers in daily life.

The scenes of Butcher and his crew being brutally defeated while ganging up on Black Noir were still fresh in his mind. Compared to permanent Supes who have developed their powers over a long period, they inherently had a gap.

"Since the quality isn't enough, I'll use quantity for now to compensate for the lack of development and proficiency in their abilities."

Wade had previously obtained Vought's experimental project materials regarding the 'Marrow Nucleus Injector' for strengthening Supe genes at The Woods laboratory.

Since he was constantly running back and forth between school and outside, busy with various tasks, he had temporarily put it off.

"It's time to upgrade the serum. If the serum's effects remain low-end... it won't be competitive compared to compound v, let alone capable of taking down Vought."

Wade flew in mid-air, preparing to leave, when a strange noise came from high up in the distance.

Initially, it was a faint hum, which then transformed into continuous, rolling sonic booms that tore through the clouds, approaching at a heart-stopping speed.

"Damn it! They found me even here?" Wade's heart tightened. Without any hesitation, he plunged into the azure sea.

The second he hit the water, a figure clad in blue and gold slammed onto the coast like a meteor, the powerful impact shaking the entire beach.

Homelander hovered a few inches above the ground, his eyes immediately locking onto the bloody graffiti on the beach and that familiar silhouette.

Homelander looked at the ghastly hole in Black Noir's chest, his face filled with disbelief, his lips trembling slightly: "No, it can't be..."

The provocative declarations written in blood around him were like loud slaps across his face.

"No—Earving!!!"

A roar of furious pain erupted from Homelander's mouth. The sound waves rolled out, causing ripples across the sea surface.

His most trusted comrade, his only partner, had been tortured and killed in this manner, and then humiliated so thoroughly.

Homelander shot up into the sky, looked around, and spotted the figure deep-diving toward the seabed.

Fury consumed his reason. Homelander's body turned into an arrow, plunging directly into the surging waves... Wade was enveloped in a thin, streamlined cone of air bubbles, with bubbles gushing from his feet, allowing him to swim rapidly along the seabed.

When a strange noise came from behind, he turned his head for a look and continued to dive: "I can decompose oxygen from the seawater. When it comes to endurance, Homelander can't compete with me!"

Sure enough, Homelander, who was chasing him, was significantly slower. The ubiquitous drag greatly restricted his speed.

Yet, seventy meters above him, a red light suddenly appeared in Homelander's eyes, and his crimson heat vision violently erupted.

Large amounts of cavitation bubbles and sizzling high-temperature steam were generated in the seawater, but they could not reach the enemy.

The feeling was futile and ridiculous, like attacking the entire ocean with a flamethrower.

Wade felt Homelander's obviously sluggish pursuit speed and the greatly reduced power of his heat vision, and quickly changed his mind. A crazy idea sprouted in his head: "This is my home field. This opportunity must not be missed..."

He suddenly stopped, turned to look at the striking blue and gold figure in the water above, and a blue light shone in his eyes as a freezing ray shot out.

Seeing that his long-range attack was ineffective, Homelander violently swung his arms, his extraordinary strength churning the water flow.

Several meters-long sharks that unfortunately passed nearby were grabbed by him remotely and hurled like stones from a sling, carrying the impact force of tens of thousands of tons of water pressure, smashing fiercely toward the opponent swimming below.

Wade was caught off guard and could only hastily condense the seawater in front of him, instantly forming a thick ice shield.

Boom!

The sharks turned into a mist of blood upon impact, and the ice shield shattered immediately.

The enormous kinetic energy still sent Wade tumbling backward.

Homelander, with a ferocious expression, continuously grabbed with both hands.

Giant octopuses, schools of Swordfish, and even a small whale shark... all the surrounding marine life became throwable weapons readily available to him.

They were propelled by an irresistible force, tearing through the seawater at astonishing speeds, shooting out from all directions.

Blue light flashed wildly in Wade's eyes. The surrounding seawater quickly froze, and countless ice shards and icicles formed out of thin air, colliding with and shattering the biological bodies used as cannonballs.

Blood, fragmented ice, and chunks of flesh instantly stained a large area of the sea, resembling a tragic underwater explosion.

Using the geographical advantage, Wade gritted his teeth and combined the freezing ray with a gravity field, forcibly trapping Homelander temporarily in a cage of ice and crushing pressure.

The freezing ray, which benefited from the geographical advantage, received a natural amplification in the deep sea. Large sheets of solid ice spread around Homelander, threatening to freeze him completely.

At the same time, with a thought, Wade fully applied a triple gravity field.

Homelander's body sank three times, feeling as if he were tied to a ten-thousand-ton freighter. Caught off guard, he choked on several mouthfuls of water.

Every one of his movements became incredibly difficult. He was dragged toward the deeper seabed, constantly surrounded by thickening layers of ice.

Wade saw that Homelander was trying to struggle upward. He pressed down hard with both hands, doubling the blue light output from his eyes: "He's failing! Push harder!"

The oxygen in Homelander's lungs was rapidly depleted during his intense struggle, and a dizzy sensation struck him.

He flailed his limbs, smashing the nearby ice layers, raising bursts of muffled shockwaves in the seawater, but he struggled to completely escape this deep-sea swamp-like restraint.

Homelander frowned deeply, and his survival instinct suddenly erupted.

He stopped trying to attack his enemy and frantically pounded his fists at extreme speed.

Boom! Boom boom boom!!

Terrifying shockwaves spread spherically in all directions, instantly vaporizing large amounts of seawater and creating enormous cavities.

Everything within the radius—whether ice layers, schools of fish, or even the reefs on the seabed—was shaken into dust.

This indiscriminate burst of destructive energy forcibly and temporarily cleared the restraints around him.

Seizing this opportunity, Homelander kicked powerfully with his legs, like an out-of-control torpedo, forcefully breaking through the dual blockade of the remaining ice layers and the gravity field, rushing desperately toward the surface.

"He can even do that... you're ruthless!" Wade's blood surged from the final shockwave. He quickly deployed multiple ice walls in front of him just barely managing to resist.

He stared with wide eyes as the figure fled into the distance, knowing the principle of not pursuing a desperate foe. He turned and accelerated his escape, diving toward a deeper, more complex ocean trench.

On the surface, Homelander hovered low, breathing heavily and coughing, greedily gulping air. Water droplets continuously dripped from his soaked and slightly disheveled suit.

Humiliation, rage, and the lingering fear in his heart twisted his face.

He stared intently at the water below, which had returned to calm but hid a murderous intent. His eyes darted around rapidly, but he could no longer find the figure of his enemy.

"Aah—!!!" Homelander let out an extremely furious roar directed at the vast ocean. The sound waves traveled far across the surface, causing distant seabirds to drop.

At this moment, on the seabed. Wade drifted along a strong ocean current, following a school of fish.

'A Tier 4 Supe is truly monstrous. Even with the perfect timing and geographical advantage on my side, he still managed to escape?'

Waves of needle-like pain struck his brain. The previous fight with Black Noir, combined with over half an hour of continuous extreme power output, meant his physical and mental reserves were nearly depleted.

"If I couldn't kill him in the sea even using every trick I have, forget about doing it on land..."

The figure quietly vanished into the endless darkness and silence of the deep sea.
