Chapter 17 - 17. War

Days passed without a single word from the young miss, causing worry to spread like a venereal disease in a brothel. The white wolf was concerned, but it knew its cultivation level was too low. The current king of the Tinding Kingdom was said to have surpassed the Body-Forging Realm, which was the first realm of the human cultivation path. The only people known to have surpassed this first realm were the five patriarchs of the five ruling families and the king himself.

The elders of the Huang family debated attacking the palace, but calmer minds prevailed. They decided to first send an elder to the palace to see what was going on and try to get the young miss back through diplomacy. Since relations between the royal family and the five families had never been good, the elders didn't expect to accomplish anything with diplomacy, but they had no other choice. Their only cultivator beyond the Body-Forging Realm, Patriarch Huang, was away and not expected back for at least three more days.

The helplessness the wolf felt reminded it that the weak are always suppressed by the strong. The wolf cultivated with even more effort, but its cultivation speed had begun to slow down. The wolf wasn't surprised by this, as it knew the reason for the slowdown. Since it was young age, the white wolf had realized it had the worst possible talent. Although its intellect was incomparable to any other creature it had met, its bodily talent was very low. In fact, it was surprised when it was able to smoothly break into the mid-Bone-Forging stage. After a single night of cultivation, the wolf stopped seeing any kind of improvement in its cultivation. The weird thing was that it wasn't worried; it seemed to have already planned for this situation.

The following day, the elder who was chosen to go to the palace returned with grim news: the first prince had imprisoned the young miss under the guise of taking her in as a royal concubine. Apparently, the prince had requested a royal decree from his father, the king, stating that the young miss was to become his sixth concubine.

This news greatly angered the Huang family, which quickly geared up for war with the royal family. The elders knew they were no match for the royal family, but they were intent on an all-out war if their young miss wasn't returned. The first thing the elders did was send an urgent message to the patriarch, informing him of the situation. The second thing they did was request support from the other ruling families. Surprisingly, the other ruling families made their stance on the matter very clear: they wholeheartedly supported the royal family and said it was Young Miss Huang's great luck that the first prince took a liking to her.

The response from the other ruling families greatly angered the Huang family. Young Miss Huang Biren and her elder sister, Huang Shengyi, were known to be the most beautiful women in the kingdom, with no equal. For the other families to say such things about her led the Huang family to go completely out for blood. The great family summoned all its members from different branches of the kingdom. It opened its weapon stores and armed all its members. That night was going to be a night to remember in the kingdom's history, the night that decided the fate of the Tinding Kingdom and the five ruling families. War was in the air, and no one could stop it at this point.
