Raze had realised in the fight, that he could somewhat control the large black hole that was on his back. When using the Breakthrough, he had been so focused on how it was able to absorb even attacks coming from the front, he hadn't even thought there was a need to pass it through his body. In his mind the Black Sphere had simply been a shield, something that devoured whatever came close and left nothing behind, and in the heat of battle that alone had seemed more than enough.
Or if there even was a way to pass it through his body without getting hurt by it, but witnessing what Trubin had been doing with his Breakthrough, it had given Raze the idea to test it out. Trubin had been manipulating his power in ways that weren't straightforward, stretching it, shaping it, forcing it to react beyond its base function, and that had sparked something in Raze's mind. If Trubin could push his ability further, then why couldn't he do the same.
