"Begin!"
When hiccup gives us the signal Astrid rushes towards me and swings her axe at my head. Hearing the blade coming, and with Astrid yelling her war cry, I skillfully dodge and tap at her opening.
I smile and in a mocking voice I say, "What have I told you about leaving yourself wide open after you swing."
She blushes and grits her teeth in anger. She turns around and swings wildly at me again and I do the same thing. After the first five minutes of her wild swings and my constant remarks she decides to take a different approach and tries to make as little noise as possible. She moves to my right and sneaks up to me. She raises her ask and as she moves to swing her axe down we hear hiccup give the ten minute mark.
I smile as hiccup says, "You can use your weapon fen!"
I raise my wooden axe above my head and catch her battle axe. She backs away to try and gain some space but I follow her. She stumbles over her own feet and falls onto her back. I step on her axe and point my own axe to her throat to end the match.
Hiccup shouts, "That's the match! Fen wins! That's 50 wins for Fenrisulfir and zero for Astrid!"
I yell back to him, "Mark it for me hiccup!"
I reach my hand towards Astrid and she grabs it. I hoist her off of the ground and whisper to her, "You know the deal. Winner gets a favor from the other. I'll collect when I'm ready."
She blushes, punches my shoulder, and nods her head shyly. I then walk away and head back to my house. When night falls I head to the safe haven while making sure not to make a sound.
When I get there I say, "Dragon forge. Open for business."
An orange and red door with a dragon head holding a hammer in its maw appears in front of me. I grab the hammer and pull on it. The door gives off a few clicks and it opens wide. When I walk through I find my self in front a replica of Hephaestus's secret forge from Danmachi only with a dragon theme instead of Greek. There is a gigantic smelting forge in the middle where the eternal flame sits and a manual air pump to strengthen the flames to a desired temp, there's a thermometer that shows me the internal temp of the smelter, a smithing table off to the right, two anvils on opposite sides of the forge close to the fire so that I can go where I need to, a hanging wall with my tools and hammer, and a door connecting to my inventory space. There is also an area for a dragon to sit next to the fire to stay warm or relax.
[R.O.B has sent you a message.]
"Open it for me."
{When you decide to make a dragon the area next to the forge will either expand or contract to fit its size. It will also be able to enhance the eternal flame to make it hotter or have special properties.}
After reading the message I decide to reorganize everything to my liking. When I am finished I head back to my house. When I break through the tree line I see fires raging on the houses. I reach my house in time to see father throw a gronckle into the air.
I shout out to him, "Nice throw!"
He turns to me and shouts, "Fenrir! Dragons! Help out with putting out the fires!"
He walks away yelling, " And make sure to bring one of these things down this time!"
I smile and yell back, "On it!"
I rush to where I see my friends leaving from. I get there and grab the biggest bucket I can. I catch up to my friends and throw the water onto the fire. I look up to see a dragon shoot a fireball at us. I turn and walk away from it. As I walk away from it to get another bucket of water I feel a pair of arms wrap around my neck.
Astrid hugs me and yells, "Where were you! I was looking everywhere for you!"
I apologize and say softly, "Couldn't sleep. I was doing some late night training in the woods. I'm sorry to have worried you. Let's put out the fires first then we can talk some more."
We rush to get buckets and I see hiccup with the contraption he used to shoot down toothless. He stops and aims, waiting for the right time to attack. I rush toward him, knowing that he is about to be attacked by the monstrous nightmare. Toothless dives down and destroys the tower next to hiccup and pulls back towards the sky. Hiccup shoots and hits the poor dragon and it crashes into the woods. Hiccup turns around and looks for anyone that saw his lucky shot not noticing the dragon behind him.
When the monstrous nightmare pops up over the cliff I use my dragon arrow ability and an arrow with a dragon head tip appears. I notch the arrow and I shoot at the dragons head hitting it in the chin. When I get close enough to it I launch myself at its head and start to punch it as hard as I can. Frightened by the unexpected pain, it begins to flap its large wings and I hold onto its horns for dear life. As it flies above the clouds my breathing starts to shallow.
I make a mental note for the future, 'I need to get used to breathing at high altitudes.'
When it breaches the clouds it begins to fly away and I finally remember the not so hidden blade on my arm. I activate the mechanism and jam the blade into its eye. It pops its eye and as it goes deeper I feel it hit the brain. The dragon jolts and goes limp, falling into the ocean. Thinking quickly I decide to jump away from the dead dragon. As I fall, I remember Percy Jackson's advice on diving from high altitudes.
"Start in skydiver position, spread eagle to slow your decent. Then, right before you hit the water, straighten like an arrow head-head up, heels down, back straight, butt clenched. That last part is really important."
And, just like Magnus Chase, I begin repeat his advice over and over again in my head.
'skydiver. eagle. arrow. butt.'
'skydiver. eagle. arrow. butt.'
'skydiver. eagle. arrow. butt.'
I follow his instructions as closely as I can remember them, and when I hit the water I clenched hard enough to make a diamond.
I hit the water and sink a good fourteen feet into the water. When I stop sinking, I swim up as fast as I can. A minute later, I breach the surface and see a massive boat with a hand sticking out from it.
I hear father yell out, "Here son!"
I grab his hand as he passes by and I am immediately crushed in a chieftain sized bear hug.
I hear father laugh and say, "You did it! You killed a monstrous nightmare!"
I ask, "Did you get the corps already?"
He responds, "I sent another boat to fetch it for you."
With that said we begin to sail back to our home with a boat full of laughter.
