The room fell into a hush after Larsen's sharp words.
The healer glanced between the two men, clearly sensing tension she had no wish to be caught in.
"Don't let anyone in while we talk," Larsen ordered her without breaking eye contact with Rama.
His voice was calm, but had a heavy undertone.
She gave a brisk nod, stepped out, and the soft click of the lock echoed after her departure.
Larsen dragged a chair closer to Rama's bed, the metal legs scraping against the floor.
He sat down heavily and rested one arm on his knee. He leaned in until his presence filled the space between them.
"Alright," he said, his tone brooking no delay. "I think right now you need to tell me exactly what happened. First, tell me what happened down there in the underground ruin, what kind of power Caedryn got. And don't give me some half-truth answer. I know you didn't go into the underground of Velmire mausoleum for treasure."
His gaze was steady, unblinking.
