Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 : Humans Kingdom (3)

After having let Roan discuss trivial and laborious details, we went to visit Fronte with Kelly and Loyd who were always silent.

Kelly shook the purse in his hand.

The lord of Fronte had to give him a deposit of future goods, about 1000 or enough to finalize a long-term relationship.

It showed how badly they were in a disastrous situation and their intentions to be partners.

"Where should we go, míster tree?"

What is the starting point?

First, supplies such as clothing or materials needed for construction had to be purchased.

However, he must first go to any place a reincarnated person should go.

"Let's go to a tavern."

The taverns were certainly famous for being close to the centre of society! Every rumour and important event has been passed on through discussions and services! This is a must see!

It was not bad to say that it is the information center of each world!

Fortunately, a popular tavern was close to their location. It took 2 minutes to get there.

The tavern was noisy. A good sign of activity and prosperity. His senses had identified about a hundred people inside.

He was just a little afraid that Kelly would feel anxious but with his bright expression, it didn't seem to be a problem.

As for Loyd...

Kelly opened the door and everyone shut up. Loyd came cowering behind her.

Hey, my boy.

You should show a little pride, right?

I gave orders to Kelly who approached the counter with a woman sitting with a professional smile.

"Hello, what are you looking for? Are you lost?"

"Huh? Oh no... I'd like some information on the trends of uh. the world?"

The hostess frowns.

"Information? We certainly have good news, but the prices are..."

Kelly put a purse of gold coins on the table. The noise silenced the room.

"Is that enough?"

There were about 1000 pieces of gold. For a tavern this was equivalent to 1 year of turnover!

"Oh, yes...! I will immediately gather the latest information!" she said before almost running away behind the counter.

Most information was expensive due to the flow. Every piece of news had to be delivered orally or by carrier pigeon, which made labor costs high.

In modern times, one could simply access information through the Internet and digital devices. However, in a medieval fantasy world, one truly realizes how spoiled we once were.

"Hey, lady, you're looking for information, right?"

"Did you hear?"

Kelly was on guard.

And Loyd... Always behind Kelly's shadow.

Damn it.

Protect her!

"Zhaha, well I have good ears."

The man in front of them was the typical ordinary mercenary with scars on his limbs. His arm was decayed as if he had been burned. His face resembles that of a third order villain.

Yet, we let him speak. Mercenary A approached and whispered to him so that the others would not hear them.

"There are rumours of a war coming soon. The kind of interracial fighting. Do you know?"

"War?"

He rubbed his fingers gently.

As a result, Kelly threw some gold coins at him and he caught up with them easily.

A high-ranking mercenary, huh.

"Yes, there is a lot of talk about fighting among the orc tribes. For now, the orcs are subject to a warlord alliance but there are soon competitors who have emerged so that conflicts arise."

A war between orcs.

It looks like a cliché scene but gives the impression that a wind of bad omen is spreading in the skies.

In the stories, orcs have aggressive and direct tendencies, preferring to die rather than lose their pride lowered to a weak one.

But if I believe my logic and my years of reading...

Kelly nodded to encourage him to continue.

"Well, we all say that an orc emperor will appear!"

Mercenary A smiled bitterly.

An orc emperor!

But what is it?

A high rank in the Orc hierarchy?

Mercenary Clenched his tongue when he saw their reaction. He certainly thought he had frightened children to finally look at silent children.

Certainly not the reaction he expected.

"What, you don't know orc power rating?"

(Kelly) "..."

(Loyd) "..."

(Me) ...

"Huh... You are really natives, lol!"

"..."

Is that supposed to be an insult?

Instead of insulting us, tell us!

"What are you doing, George?" The hostess who had left came back with burning eyes.

So this mercenary A (nickname) was called George? A typical basic name.

"You're trying to ruin our clients after running off previous clients? Do you think I forgot the last few times after you bought me food?!"

Oh, it's not the first time, is it?

"Zhaha, I was just trading."

He said, showing the gold coin in his hands.

"George!"

"Well, it's time to go! Good luck for the rest, zhaha!" he joined his comrades and left the tavern.

About ten people followed him.

It was a big head then?

No wonder the hostess showed her some importance despite the spicy words.

"Sorry for the inconvenience! Some of our regular customers are a bit annoying, but be gentle, they're not bad people."

This was in contrast to his previous words. Although I didn't care.

Kelly, who was a kind of spokesperson, started opening the tavern newspaper.

Inside was noted all the important events produced in the last two years.

[The unification of the Elven population into one country! The Elvish Empire! ]

[Development of a new industry among dwarves! Creation of a golem with two cores! ]

[Black market of human slaves taking place in the centre of the Elven capital Alfira! ]

Several dozen titles were piled up. Some of them were dubious and others contemptuous.

However, we searched for titles concerning orcs but nothing came out.

"Madam, why is there no news about the orcs?"

"Hm...?" The hostess was always counting gold coins in the stock exchange.

"Orc? Sorry we have no information on them. If I may ask, what are you looking for?"

We explained to him the information revealed by the mercenary A or rather George now.

"Ah! That damn george!"

"Did he give us false information?" asked Kelly.

I began to doubt that I had lost two gold coins because of false information... Maybe we could chase them if we left now.

"Oh no! This is good news. The problem is not the truth. It's just that George had a contract with us to give us critical information first."

We all became silent in the face of his stupid or courageous behavior. This George was really stubborn then. The counter hostess returned two gold pieces for compensation.

"That's the price of information, accept it."

As we were not a really rich base to refuse such an opportunity, we accepted with pleasure then we left the tavern.

Let's get some manpower now. One of our main goals is coming to Fronte.

We wandered through the streets before ending up in a poor neighborhood.

How did we know?

The smell of urine, the trash piles, and the flies buzzing around the garbage bins.

Kelly pinched her nose, and I even caught myself unconsciously squinting inwardly.

There are many. Such people were crammed into a place like garbage, abandoned by their country.

A place where hunger persisted, theft and murder were common.

"Hey, little lady..."

A gloomy man approached with a sad smile. Asking for food and some coins.

While Kelly hesitated to give money, I stopped him in time. Helping is good, but giving naively is bad.

Especially when many poor people looked at them with intense eyes. These bastards.

Hold out a hand and they'll take the arm.

There were certainly good people who fell in because of bad luck, but the number of murderers and perverts crammed in was many.

"Lloyd is moving forward."

Now I was going to use my trump card.

"Yes…"

Loyd moved forward with hesitation, closing his hands in a prayer position, soon he opened his eyes with a white light inside.

As expected of an irregular.

The Detective category was a unique class. It allows us to distinguish auras from individuals.

Bad and good.

In other words, according to his morality, his perception can change, but thanks to a perfect teacher,(me) I have instilled in him the morality of a modern man! Goodness!

As a result, the eyes of Loyd allowed him to check people's auras and precisely choose whom to recruit. Only good men.

We were short of manpower, but recruiting murderers and fishermen is like taking a long-term poison. There's no difference. It's always poison.

Thanks to Loyd's quick work securing the perimeter, Kelly managed to gather around a hundred people.

"Kelly?"

Ah, Roan had just arrived.

Seeing a paper in his hand, it looked like the procedures had been successful!

"Are these the ones coming back with us?" he asked, glancing at Loyd curled up in the cart.

"Yes! People with pure hearts!"

Roan ruffled Kelly's hair.

"Alright! Let's go, collect the supplies, then we'll leave Fronte through the secret passage and head back to the village!"

We finally started coming back to the village.

Two months passed.
