Chapter 15 - A Talented Display

Gathered around a table, the three of them sat. Zahna told them about her journey to Korin's tower, her battle with Yaijirobe, and the Flying Nimbus. Roshi was taken aback by the fact that she had her own, and that she was able to climb the tower and defeat such a strong ally of his. "So… you've beaten the best swordsman…" Roshi stroked his chin quizzically before flinging his mouth wide open, "---WAIT!!!! THAT MEANS YOU'RE THE WORLD'S GREATEST SWORDSMAN!?!" he yelled in shock and the sudden realization. 'Why do the cute ones have to be so deadly!' he thought to himself, as Launch crossed his mind.

Zahna just shrugged, "If he really was, then I guess so?" Roshi had trouble regaining his composure after hearing how nonchalant she was about the whole situation. "Now… Let's get to brass tax, old man!" she stood up on the table, pointing a finger at Roshi. "It's your fault I'm even here, you creep!" She grabbed him by his shirt, and lifted him out of his seat.

"W-wait a minute would ya!?!" his legs were kicking fast beneath him as he dangled from her grip. Roshi then looked down, and his face became flush red. He grinned and tried grabbing at Zahna's body but for some reason he couldn't understand how his hands only got a grip on his eyes, sending him reeling in pain! Roshi let out a shriek as he recoiled, "Ahhh! How the?! My eyes!"

Zahna threw Roshi to the ground head first, "Serves you right, weirdo!" she shouted, while stepping down from the table. Baba was barely able to contain laughter at her brother's expense! After hitting his head on the ground he let out a small 'yeow!' Roshi quickly sprang back to his feet, and began rubbing his shiny bald head.

"You're pretty strong… for a girl" Roshi's backhanded compliment elicited a disgusted look from Zahna.

In response to the rising tension, Baba decided to interrupt. She cleared her throat loudly, "AHEM!" grabbing their attention. "Zahna, as entertaining as it would be to watch you pummel my brother, would you give it a rest for now?" Zahna grumbled to herself rolling her eyes and crossing her arms, signaling that she would honor the request for the moment. "Now then, brother. I'm certain you'll keep the promise you made?"

"Of course, I'm a man of my word!" He smiled as he glanced at Zahna, she returned a menacing glare. He was startled by the look, and quickly looked elsewhere.

"I know you want to get stronger, girl. I made him promise to train you." The fortune teller addressed the young woman. "I know he might not look like much, but he's actually trained many powerful warriors."

Zahna scrunched up her face and looked at Roshi, then turned back to Baba. "Isn't there someone less…creepy?"

"I'm not a creep! I'M A MAN!!!!" the old man pleaded but to no avail, as he was ignored by the others.

"Why don't you try to strike him with your sword if you don't trust my judgment!" Baba snapped. Zahna drew her sword and pointed it at Roshi.

"H-Hey! That thing looks sharp, and I don't even have a sword!" His glasses nearly flew off his face when he saw her point it at him.

"Get ready, gramps!" She charged forward, leaping over the table. She swung her blade downwards, aiming squarely at his head. His eyes seemingly grew in size as he dodged at the last moment. She followed up with a second horizontal slash, the old man dodged it with a deep back bend at a superhuman angle. 'How the hell is he more agile than Yajirobe?!' She thought to herself as each attack failed to connect.

"You've got skill, that much is true." Roshi kicked upwards, knocking Zahna's sword away and throwing her off balance. "Let's see how you handle this!" he jumped above her in a flash, and came down with a spinning kick. Zahna was barely able to block it in time and was sent flying into a wall! She crashed with a loud sound and the wall buckled under the forces of the collision.

Baba was angrily gesturing for them to take it outside, " Not in here!!!" she yelled. Roshi scratched his head, "Wasn't it you who told her to attack me?!" he crossed his arms and tilted his head up. "It's not my fault and you know it!" He ended by sticking his tongue out and blowing a raspberry at his sister. 'Plbbbb!!!!'

Parts of the wall fell away, as the dust billowed outward. A Figure began to emerge from the mess, "You sure hit hard, old man." a voice called out.

Roshi snapped his head back to the scene that was unfolding, shocked by what he saw and what he couldn't sense. A powerful aura wrapped around Zahna, the light of it piercing through the cloud of dust. 'Why can't I detect the energy she's using… I really had to wish for a magical girl didn't I!' he gulped, and assumed a more serious fighting stance.

"Zahna! Take it outside!" Baba demanded. A purple light suddenly appeared beneath Roshi's feet.

"Gladly." Zahna replied. Roshi let out a series of surprised sounds as well as some choice words, as he fell through the newly opened hole beneath him. He found himself falling through the air, water beneath him.

"What the hell!" Although he was surprised at the change of scenery, the old master jumped out of the water. Landing in front of the Fortune Tellers palace. "That's quite the nasty trick you've got there." He shook off excess water as Zahna slowly walked out the entrance.

"If you liked that, you'll love this!" She swung her blade at him from a distance, and a dark crescent wave emerged from it. It was headed straight towards Roshi.

"What is that?!" He jumped to the side just at the last moment, and watched as the projected slash exploded the water sky high! He turned his attention back at the right time, because three more waves were on their way! "Damn!" he cried out as the remaining waves collided with him. An explosion rang out as the attacks detonated on their target. Zahna kept her eyes trained on his last known location. "If you can't handle that, how are you supposed to train me?!" She taunted.

As the cloud of smoke began to clear, a blue light started to build in the middle of it all. Followed by a distinct phrase. "Ka-" the light grew, "meh" the light was pulled backwards slowly, "ha-meh…" Spears of light spilled out in all directions. Zahna felt his Ki spiking at that moment, and braced for impact. "HA!!!"

A blue orb, trailed by a torrent of the same color, streamed towards Zahna. It was moving faster than she could dodge or open a portal, so she had no choice but to try and block it. The light emitted from Roshi's Ki wave was nearly blinding, and grew brighter still as it slammed into Zahna with a sonic boom! A shock wave reverberated through the area, quaking the ground with its power. Roshi's attack dissipated, and he lowered his hands. Another section of the palace had been reduced to rubble as a result, and in the middle of it was a plume of ash and dust, too dense to see through!
