Chapter 226 - Learning About the Saiyans

The woman walked out of the hatch, allowing Bian to espy the interior of the vehicle.

He saw a sofa and what looked like a refrigerator. At the same time, he felt the thread lead to something within the car.

'No, wait, why did she come to me?'

Bian turned his attention back to the woman. She observed him for a while before saying something. Unfortunately, Bian couldn't decipher her words.

"I don't understand you, lady."

He said with exaggerated arm gestures, hoping she would get the hint.

The lady said some more words and seeing Bian's confused face, she gestured for him to enter the car.

'Ah, feels like trafficking.'

Although Bian thought so, he hastily obliged and went into the large sports car. If the Emperical Will led him there, he wasn't going to pass up the chance to explore.

When he entered, Bian was given a shock.

"A kitchen counter, shower, bed. This is just a house on wheels."

Bian didn't know if all vehicles were like this or if this lady was closer to his financial situation than he had expected.

The denizens of this planet lived in houses, that much he was sure of.

He was knocked out of his train of thought when he heard the woman say something.

His time with the beggars had not been a complete waste. He understood some basic words like what she had just said, asking him to come over.

Avoiding the pillar in the middle of the car, Bian came to her side.

The car was really spacious, there was every basic amenity needed for living without stepping out at all.

There were no windows. He had no idea what was going on outside the car, but he felt it was still moving.

She guided Bian to sit in a comfortable chair, lowering an advanced headset and switching on the device.

Bian watched as she tapped away, a mechanical voice kept echoing in his mind.

[Set to brainwave input and output]

"Hello, can you hear me now?"

The headset had the ability to directly read the brainwaves to allow for seamless movement in-game. She just had to set the communication to use these brainwaves also.

"Yes, I can."

Bian affirmed. He could understand her now, and when he spoke, a prompt popped up that she could read.

'Nifty tech, it looks very expensive too.'

Bian could tell because she handled it with caution.

"My name is Cicely, this is planet Gumele belonging to the high race of the Saiyans in the Tianxia system. Earlier, I was asking if you need a hospital."

Cicely articulated her words neatly, but also in haste. Bian understood she was heading somewhere and answered quickly.

"Bian, a human. I'm fine, I don't need any hospital, but I got lost from my people and have no way of contacting them."

She read the words on the screen lightning-fast and looked relieved after she checked his clothes and found he wasn't actually injured.

"Okay, I have to work now. Uhm... you can stay in my house until I come back, but don't take it anywhere."

Bian didn't even know how to operate the vehicle. He agreed to her generous offer and told her he would be trying to learn the language while she was gone.

Cicely just shrugged her shoulders and left. Bian saw her approaching a large floating building; there, a receptionist saw her and moved out to receive her.

He wanted to watch her enter the blue light, which would elevate her to the futuristic floating building, but the hatch closed too soon.

"Open! Surveillance! System!"

Bian called out, but the system didn't respond. The headgear covered eighty percent of his head, restricting movement. He took it off and explored the car.

It was both a car and a house. Everything there was automatic without switches or knobs, but Bian didn't know how to operate it.

He followed the invisible thread to a desk with a lot of trinkets, and after rummaging through the trinkets, he found a piece of black rock.

The thread from the Emperical Aura led to this black rock. It was slender and had gold engravings in the pattern of a whirlpool. He was sure it was a medallion or token of some sort.

Picking it up, the first thing Bian noticed was that it was cold to the touch and then, something changed.

A new Emperical Thread emerged from the Black Token, leading out of the planet.

"What are these threads exactly? Could this new one lead to some door that the Black Token opens?"

Bian put the Black Token back where he found it. He wanted to take a shower, but even that needed some sort of permission he didn't have.

Eventually, Bian had to go back to the gaming chair. The only way to describe it was as a gaming chair, because that was what it looked like.

He lowered the headset and navigated the virtual environment. It was intuitive in nature, so although Bian was using it for the first time, he was easily able to navigate it with his consciousness.

With the brainwave input and output function, he could understand the words he was reading on screen even if he didn't know the meaning of the words.

It was a magical feeling.

He surfed the web to learn more about the Saiyans. Planet Gumele was at the extreme edge of the system, one of the most underdeveloped planets.

It was also the closest planet to the Tianxia system, which was a deadly place. From what Bian remembered in his past memories, Purple Fight, the strongest sacred general, was here, along with Han Yufei, who was trapped on Mountain Island.

He couldn't scour this knowledge online, though. The only thing known about the Tianxia system was that it was a dangerous place with a lot of deified xenogeneics, where electronic devices would not work.

The Saiyans were the most advanced race in terms of technology; that was why they could travel the system in their ships and have planets on the outskirts of the system.

Bian frowned as he kept reading. Most other races always regarded the Saiyans as the second most technologically advanced race, putting them behind the Crystallisers.

It caused a lot of bad blood between the Saiyan race and the nearly extinct Crystallisers.

"I was regretting telling Cicely I was human before, seeing as how humans are not meant to exist in the gene universe. Now I'm glad I hadn't said Crystalliser."

Most people didn't even know what a human was. They would just assume it was one of the many obscure lower races. It was safer to keep using this identity before he left the territory of the Saiyans.

Bian kept surfing and learning more about where he was. A smartwatch for controlling devices, a high-end gaming setup, the upcoming Shooters Royal.

He was very impressed with Cicely, her device wasn't the best, but it was quite expensive. The car was even more ridiculous in terms of price.

"She must be a big shot in that company."

Bian had found the perfect thigh to hold.

How about shame?

What was that!

Could it keep him fed?

He was determined not to leave until he generated his geno armor.

"There are a lot of fruits that can help generate my armor, but all of them are quite costly. Although it's only a fraction of the cost for this headset, I can't expect too much from a stranger."

Bian now needed money. Unfortunately, he wouldn't get a job anywhere unless he was a Saiyan or had connections.

Bian let out a heavy breath, getting ready to sleep after half a day of surfing nonstop.

"Hmm, what's this?"

He saw a flier on Cicely's page just before leaving. It was the first and most important bookmark she had.

"The registration for the Shooters Royale ends today, and the qualifying rounds start tomorrow."
