"By the way, Colleen, as it's your first day as my secretary, I bought you a gift to welcome you. I hope you won't refuse it!" Chris said.

Chris leaned over and took a black shopping bag from the back seat. Colleen looked at it, and to her surprise, it was Lancôme!

"I wasn't sure what to get, so I asked the salesperson to recommend a lipstick and a perfume. It wasn't much, but since you're a friend of Peggy's, I thought it would be nice to be friends with you too!" Chris explained.

Colleen was a bit unsure if she should accept the gift, but before she could decide, Chris had already placed it on her lap.

At that moment, Colleen finally understood why so many young girls at her previous factory job were willing to be mistresses to men who were old enough to be their fathers. She also wanted to buy Lancôme cosmetics, but she couldn't save much money in a month. She had to pay rent, cover her daily expenses, and send money to her parents. Her younger brother in junior high school needed money too!

Colleen had been tempted more than once. After all, in this environment, it was not easy for women to handle everything on their own. Who wouldn't want a man to take care of them? Colleen was just a weak woman!

Once, a middle-aged businessman offered her several thousand a month if she became his mistress. For Colleen, it was a tempting offer. She could barely earn one or two thousand a month, and all she had to do was sleep with that middle-aged man to earn four or five thousand a month!

But Colleen still hoped for love. She hoped that one day she would meet a man who loved her, even if he wasn't wealthy. As long as they worked hard together, they could overcome any obstacles. However, the failure of her previous relationship had shattered Colleen's fantasies.

That man was not self-motivated. She didn't know what she was thinking when she fell for him. Even though she was still a virgin, what good was it? In this society, you couldn't get far without money! She had to send money to her parents to support their livelihood, and her younger brother needed money for school. She would even have to support him through college in the future!

Thinking about all this, Colleen looked at Chris, who was focused on driving, with a somewhat mesmerized gaze. Was she also going to end up like her colleagues? Trading her freedom for material happiness?

Chris had no idea what Colleen was thinking, but he admired her in his heart. He could tell that she wasn't particularly materialistic. After all, most girls would have happily accepted the gift by now.

The journey was long, and Chris chatted with Colleen along the way. Suddenly, he noticed that Colleen seemed off, lost in thought.

"Colleen, are you feeling unwell?" Chris saw a service area ahead and decided to stop the car, concerned about Colleen's discomfort.

Colleen started by crying softly, then burst into loud sobs, leaving Chris somewhat bewildered.

"Why did you give me these gifts? Are you trying to seduce me?" Colleen cried hysterically.

Chris felt awkward. With Colleen's beautiful appearance, long legs in black stockings, outstanding figure, and delicate face, it's natural for any man who could get hard with desires to be attracted to her! As for Chris, his mind was filled with sexual desires and instincts for reproduction. Since the moment he laid eyes on Colleen, his penis had been eagerly erect, never losing its vigor!

"Well, if you put it that way, I can't deny it!" Chris handed Colleen a tissue.

Colleen, on the other hand, was taken aback by Chris's words, her eyes reddened as she asked, "Why?"

Chris shrugged, "Of course, it's because you're beautiful! Honestly, I'm sure many people are pursuing you. The reason you're crying is probably because you encountered a scumbag. Go ahead and cry if you need to. You're young, and you'll meet someone better. Everyone encounters a few scumbags in their lifetime, right?!"

Colleen paused, listening to Chris's earnest words, and suddenly burst into laughter. "You're terrible at comforting people, but thank you. It's just that I've been under a lot of stress lately."

Everyone experiences periods of high stress, and it's good to let it out by crying. Seeing that Colleen was okay, Chris went to the supermarket in the service area, bought some water and food, and then continued driving.
