The receptionist answered the phone.
A command came from the receiver: "Orders from above—no one is allowed to reveal anything about Mrs. Lindsey being in the hospital."
That was the only sentence.
The receptionist immediately understood what to do.
She hung up the phone and didn't bother arguing with Laura. She directly registered her for an emergency consultation.
Then she called over two young nurses—one to support Laura, the other to support Penny.
Laura looked at the receptionist suspiciously and asked, "You're not even going to verify my identity? You just trust me like this?"
"Better safe than sorry. Your health is the priority."
The receptionist, clearly experienced, didn't escalate things with Laura. She simply smiled warmly and watched her head toward the emergency room.
This infuriated Laura.
She knew that the receptionist must be aware that Arthur Lindsey was at the hospital. How could she blindly believe her without any proof?
Something was definitely off!
