Cherline Lindsey did not respond to Gregson.
But the corners of her delicate lips curved into a rare, enigmatic smile.
Laura Waltson, on the other hand, dared not meet Cherline's gaze. She deliberately used her hair to cover half her face and only said to Penny Sullivan with a feigned sense of ease, "Grandma, it's really like that."
"Well, then I'm relieved." Penny nodded.
"Grandma, you've gone to so much trouble worrying about me." Laura held her grandmother's aged hand in a gesture of affection, and said, with a hint of coquettishness, "Grandma, I feel like I can't be without you..."
Hmm?
Penny's heart gave a jolt. "Laura, are you asking Grandma to stay here and accompany you?"
If that were the case, Penny would find herself in a bit of a dilemma.
Truthfully, she wanted to go back home. Laura didn't really have anything to do in the hospital—it was just a matter of receiving nutrient solution and didn't require someone to stay and take care of her.
