"Didn't they say Mr. Vanderbilt treats his wife very well? So well that he tolerates absolutely everything… Why did he suddenly hit someone?"
"Didn't he just follow Juliana Vanderbilt to the hospital?"
The crowd whispered confusedly. Arabella Vanderbilt stood where she was, facing Rosy Roberts, and suddenly curled her lips into an icy, mocking smile.
"Rosy Roberts, I won't deny your beliefs, but you couldn't be more laughably wrong. Deluding yourself? Someone's bound to snap you out of it… Juliana's the Phoenix Girl, and I'm the Sweeper Star. Ha."
Rosy Roberts's face shifted slightly. By now, everyone in the parlor had moved to the doorway to watch the next spectacle.
"Ah—"
Naomi Rein screamed again, followed closely by Victor Vanderbilt's heavy, furious breathing, clearly on the verge of a complete meltdown.
