James Norris looked at her with her head down in silence, thinking she was disappointed in him, so he added.
"But I can tell you everything I know."
Kiara felt even more guilt.
She had swindled so many people, but for some reason, with this one before her, she felt uncomfortable after the deceit. It was a reason Kiara would only understand later, unconnected with romance yet tied to her past life.
Mrs. Kiara composed herself and said earnestly.
"Actually, Fox Cat, if it's inconvenient for you, you don't have to speak."

He had just spent so much time digging that hole, extending from a fairytale to a professional ramble, all just to set the stage for this revelation about his origin. Fox Cat was somewhat confused, why, when she was about to succeed, would she give up.
"I'm sorry." Kiara apologized seriously.
She should have realized it earlier; Fox Cat shared her profession. The tactics she planned to use were transparent to him.
