"Take care of yourself," Jing Xin called out as he watched Jing Peng's retreating figure, after a moment of silence.
"Got it, you too." Jing Peng felt a twinge of sourness in his eyes at these words, waved his hand, and left without turning back.
As he turned to head back to the research institute, he was informed that there was mail for him in the mailroom. He went to pick it up and discovered it was from Jing Yuan, addressed to him and his wife Fang Xiu.
He hadn't intended to read it, but after thinking it over, he decided to open the letter. After reading its contents, he finally understood why Jing Peng had come to find him earlier. It turned out Jing Yuan had left, and no one knew where she had gone. The letter simply said she had made a mistake and hoped he could pass on her apologies to Fang Xiu, expressing she shouldn't have been so selfish.
