Chapter 138 - Embers of Doubt: A Heart Torn Between Duty and Home (137)

Aeron, who had been mostly quiet during their exploration, interrupted in his tracks. His eyes widened as realization struck him. Drogo! He had been caught up in everything that he had completely forgotten his dragon was still outside. His head snapped towards the balcony, a flicker of guilt crossing his face.

" I need to get Drogo, " he said, already turning toward the exit. Before he could take another step, Violet perked up and quickly interjected, " Wait! Let me do it! "

Aeron hesitated, blinking at her in surprise. " You? "

She nodded enthusiastically. " Yeah! You said one day I could fly him myself. Well, this is the perfect chance! "

Aeron studied her for a moment, his expression a mix of uncertainty and amusement. He knew how eager Violet was for a challenge, and though the idea of her flying Drogo alone made him a little nervous, he also couldn't deny the excitement in her eyes.

After a brief pause, he finally sighed and gave her a small nod. " Alright… but be careful. "

Violet grinned triumphantly and clenched her fists with determination.

" You won't regret this! " she said before dashing toward the balcony. The others watched as she disappeared down the staircase, her energy practically radiating off her waves. Starfania chuckled, shaking her head. " She's really excited about this, isn't she? "

Aeron sighed, crossing his arms. " Yeah… that's what worries me. "

Starfania playfully nudged her best friend's shoulders and had a small smirk on her face. " Well, why is she gone? Why not surprise her with dinner? "

Aeron raised an eyebrow, considering the idea. "Dinner? Now?"

Starfania nodded enthusiastically. "Why not? We have time before she gets back. Plus, it could be a nice way to celebrate."

He uncrossed his arms, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly. "Okay, I guess we can whip something up. What do you have in mind?"

Starfania bounced on her toes, already brainstorming. "How about pasta? It's quick, and everyone loves it. We can add a salad on the side."

"Sounds good to me." Aeron moved toward the kitchen, opening cabinets to see what they had. "Do we have enough ingredients?"

"Let's check. We might need to make a run to the store," she replied, heeling him. As they rummaged through the pantry, Aeron felt a sense of warmth at the thought of their little gathering.

"I just hope she doesn't come back too soon," he said, glancing back at her. Starfania laughed softly. "Well, if she does, we'll just have to act like we were doing nothing. We could get creative!"

"Right. Pretend we're just staring at the walls or something." He chuckled, imagining the scene.

"Exactly!" she replied, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "Let's get cooking while we can."
