Chapter 125 - Chapter 122

Naruhata is a city district located in Tokyo. It's a fairly busy urban area with many of the residents making as much use of the space they have, and although there's a lot of old buildings and remnants of complex roads that are hardly used, this district is considered abandoned despite still being full of life. Ever since about ten years ago when the expressway opened, the amount of cars that would go out of their way to take the local roads decreased drastically, so especially early in the morning, no vehicles come through except for the convenience store delivery trucks. This lead to a decrease of potential activity that could have been lead through the district that lowered exposure, meaning that when compared to the busier districts near Tokyo, this place was seen more akin to a ghost town despite being quite on the contrary.

Because of this perception, a sizeable number of the less savory kind of the population have decided among themselves to conduct their business within the city limits. Most of the incidents related with the spontaneous villains have occurred in exceedingly confined areas, such as the NR Naruhata Station shopping district, as well as the old Higashi Naruhata town.

However, due to the recent events that have transpired, there has been an influx of hero that began patrolling.

Now normally there was a form of division and a sense of territory among the heroes as well as a formal discussion about the delegation between affected parties. And yet now the disastrous terrorist attacks have where the effectiveness of heroes along with their necessity has been called into question- only exacerbated by the fact that the general public has become more keenly aware of the mortality of the symbol of peace.

This lot the proverbial fire under their behinds which prompted a call to action so to speak. Those who called themselves 'Pro heroes' but little more than sit in an office and collect money from the government are being put under harsher scrutiny; especially after the few dozen that were publicly let go as an example leading to those of similar individuals having to do something beyond simply smiling for the camera.

The citizens aren't idiots of course, it doesn't even take the barest hint of effort for them to know that someone is trying their best to manage their image. It is laughably amusing to see the videos on the internet about how someone compared their appearances and activities prior to the disaster and after the fact which only put those posers under microscope.

Having them receive their just desserts aside, the comical tide of heroes have swelled to the point that it even affected a place of put-out as Naruhata but only in the sense that other places are simply 'At full capacity' so to speak.

The villains and the lesser criminal variety of the city has hidden themselves deeper as opposed to moving because, quite frankly, anywhere else is just, if not worse, than what Naruhata is currently experiencing. Not only is it risky move around I'm broad daylight, but it also risky to move around any product they might have.

The city has gotten the bustling activity that it used to lack with the influx of desperate heroes looking to make for a quick headline article. So much so in fact, that even the friendly neighbourhood vigilantes have afforded themselves a vacation from the life of fighting crime.

That isn't to say that the criminal elements are completely lying low. Most of the basis for crime is the 'need' and not 'want' of committing them. There are those that step towards their usual routine only to be snapped up quickly by the next poser hero but the one with truly deeper experience could tell that the more jaded individuals have holes themselves further back.

There's no right or wrong with the situation as is, but the truth of the matter is that even a cornered rat would bite and claw back at the cat. The individuals in hiding are undoubtedly more dangerous but the current happenstance of Naruhata District only makes the situation as tense as a cooled spring- just one wrong move can turn the power keg of a city into a smoking crater pit from the fallout.

Naturally this is a situation everyone with more than half a braincell wanted to avoid so one of the only few things we could do was either ignore the problem and let it equalise to a more manageable level with the potential of criminal elements gaining a foothold, or the other thing we could do was conduct an organized raid across multiple targets of interest simultaneously.

Just as what is in the works as of the moment.

Although even with all the riffraff that swelled the numbers on our side, it is still a idiotic to assume that we could hit all of villains at once. Despite so, being able to cull the villainous forces to a lesser amount would weaken their hold on the city significantly and with less manpower to their names, they would have difficulties in being able to recuperate their organizations.

Best case scenario, everything goes well and we can all go home without any other problem and I can tease Onemu-Senpai about her worries going up in smoke as she falls asleep on her feet.

Only... With the more the time passes, that wistful thinking is the one that disappeared.

I couldn't help but sigh at my luck. Normally, going by what Oneesama let out by accident, it would be that ape who's a trouble magnet. Then again, statistically speaking, the chances of something like this happening are on the rise.

"Vista! Stop daydreaming!"

"Yes, of course." I parroted before mumbling. "I wasn't daydreaming." Honestly, such a beginner's mistake has already cost me once, I wouldn't do so much as repeat such a thing.

A needle here, relocating someone over there, throwing a dropkick over a goon, blocking a suprise attack with some debris and then going back to needles. The fight isn't even that messy or dangerous, just a bit exaggerated with all the screaming done to raise their morale is all. With how flow of battle is right now, I could afford to split my thoughts and multitask.

Moments later and I was right. Despite the initial bad luck with having to fight to begin with, the battle wasn't all that perilous even when we were outnumbered.

The forming migraine is still at a manageable level so I'm not out of commission just yet.

"Ugh... I jinxed it..." Onemu-Senpai muttered besides me as the two of us overlooked the downed men.

"Well, I wouldn't want to jinx it either by saying the obvious. However, the likelihood of this happening to begin with is higher than usual so don't feel too bad." I patted her in the back as consolation.

Contrary to her appearance, Onemu-Senpai does not have a quirk that can put someone to sleep. Or rather, the exact opposite is true, She has a quirk that can energize other people and heighten their focus for a few minutes. In addition, if she pushes herself further, Onemu-Senpai can also empower someone else's quirk within short three-second bursts.

Three seconds wouldn't seem like much for most people to take advantage of, like say, Enigma or Watchbird. However, with me who focused on cutting down the timer on my teleportation as an already versatile quirk along with her empowerment, there are plenty of things I could do with a larger load to port within my current 0.03second timer.

People who can affect other quirks are one of the rarest categories to exist, the fact that Onemu-Senpai is working in the Idaten Agency is a matter good fortune. The agency's lax policy regarding division of labor and free time no doubt helped in her decision to join but I wouldn't put it against her to stay trust to her own slothful desires.

Watchbird's voice cut through our receivers. "Musona, Vista, transport will be delayed by an approximate thirteen minutes so don't let down your guard."

"...Gotcha." "Received. Nothing to worry on our side."

My spacial awareness makes that point moot but saying that outright would be seen in a poor light by someone with a strict sense of duty.

Speaking of- "What? Hey!" "Oh, come on!"

Casually tucking away the small knife and serrated wire ring into my bag, I turned back to my designated partner "So, how do you think the other raid teams are doing by now?"

~~~
"*Breaking News! This just in, a massive raid operation led by Team Idaten has been conducted in Tokyo's Naruhata District. Numbers documents arrest as many as over two-hundred individuals, among of whom include previously missing villains such as RedRunner, The Sonorous Brothers and August Prince!*"
"**That's right, Sakurajima. A large scale operation like this has rarely happened in modern history, with the last one being lead by All Might and coordinated by his then-sidekick Sir Nighteye almost a decade ago.**"
"*Speaking of the man himself, All Might has yet to make an appearance in person since the initial terrorist attack only a month or so prior. We have asked his current place of occupation but as it stands, U.A. has declined to respond, citing that they will hold a press conference to answer questions.*"
"**I don't know about that one, Sakurajima. To me, it all just smells like a cover-up. I mean, a prestigious academy looking to uphold it's image-**"
I turned off my phone before the anchorman started to rant about his conspiracy theory. I really rather not have my ears sullied with nonsense before noon, I already had enough of that with the gossips being thrown around about me.
'Kimura-sensei was right. That Bakewhatever really is an inconvenient and petty miser.'
Throwing away the cup of coffee laced with laxatives, I idly debated whether I can knock off a few more teeth from the nepobaby while making my way towards the labs.
