Chapter 102 - Official Ranks

The receptionist somehow knew the results of each assessment and had already given a ranking based on each.

Still though, Orville and Minerva spoke with her briefly to elucidate their own experience when facing each member of the crew.

It seemed that the input was important for a finalization of the ranks.

"Alright, each of you have successfully passed— some frighteningly so— and now I shall officially bestow upon you your rankings based on the limited data procured during each of your matches.

"First up, I will ask for your names to engrave on your unique Wanderer's Badges going in the order of each of your matches."

Null spoke first, "Null is the name I choose to have engraved."

"Theef."

"Barter's Ruler."

"Klein."

"Z'oelo."

The process was handled smoothly by the receptionist as she used a special utensil to brand some extravagant looking metal badges.

The lack of a last name was noticeable, but it was a vast universe and there were many races that had no want or need for more than a singular name to go by.

"The rankings are as follows: Void Wanderer Null, Dimensional Wanderer Barter's Ruler, Space Wanderer's Klein and Z'oelo, and finally Plains Wanderer Theef."

"To elucidate, the rankings starting from the lowest go as follows: Plains Wanderer, World Wanderer, Space Wanderer, Dimensional Wanderer and lastly Void Wanderer."

The crew upon receiving their Wanderer's Guild badges were intent on fully understanding the reasons behind their rankings.

Seeing the reluctance in some of their countenances, the receptionist imparted a final word, "The rankings are just for appearance's sake for the most part. Even some Plains Wanderers can defeat Void Wanderers depending on the circumstances."

She continued, "Now onto the advantages of becoming a Wanderer of the Wanderer's Guild. As you may already know, we host a wide variety of missions and quests submitted through either a quester or the guild itself."

"Furthermore, those who undergo said missions or quests have the opportunity to rise in the ranks depending on the amount and danger level regarding them."

"For example, for a Plain Wanderer to advance to a World Wanderer, they are required to complete a total of ten plains quests or one world quest."

Theef butted in, "What if I want to advance quicker than with a world quest?"

The receptionist seemed to expect the question as she responded immediately, "Unfortunately it does not work like that. However, as newcomers to the scene, a Void Wanderer like Null would not be able to immediately undertake a void level quest lest our assessment fail to accurately depict his strength."

"That is to say that much like your current state as a Plain Wanderer, both you and Null are restricted to plains quests and world quests so as to ensure the safety of our precious members."

"Additionally, there are different levels to each experience level in terms of rank. They go from amateur, experienced, and adept such as an Amateur Plain Wanderer and so forth."

"Are there any more questions you have for me?"

After taking all of the information in, the crew looked amongst themselves and collectively nodded.

Barter's Ruler spoke, "I'm familiar with the basics of the Wanderer's Guild having been in alliance with them for a while now. We'll handle the rest ourselves, thanks."

"Well, I'll be here when you need me to help you with anything."

Barter's Ruler smiled, "Let's get started shall we my Plains Wanderer pal?"

Theef returned the look with a pissed off frown, "Just give me a buff, will ya? That woulda shown them just how messed up their system is."

"Power that originates in one's own self is true power. Unless you gain stronger abilities for your chimera form, you won't be able to shine as a top tier combatant."

"He's right you know," Null popped in, "We should head to the Wanderer's Market next to see if we can find some worthy items."

"And clothes," Klein added.

His tunic had been worn down a bit after all the travel and such.

"Yeah, like I'll be able to find a suitable shirt to wear with these arms of mine," Z'oelo complained with his naked upper body.

"You're all right," Barter's Ruler added with a wrinkle in his face, "It's been too long since you've even bathed let alone worn clean clothes."

He was the only one that had the right to talk given that his clothes were generated by his Transcendent power and were always in a state of renewal.

"If only it were that easy to become a Transcendent being. We're still kids y'know," Z'oelo harrumphed.

---

With their business handled at the Wanderer's Guild, the crew headed out to the Wanderer's Market where they were faced with booths and stalls of various wares.

Having decided on finding clothing, they went to a side of the market where people of all sizes and forms hawked their cloths, hides, and all types of materials alongside already finished attire.

"I don't know about you guys, but I'm only gonna get me some draws to put on as I quite like this blanket."

Null had gone fully nude this entire time aside from the soft woven blanket that he draped over his small figure and tied so that it seldom flowed lest his private bits be shown to the world.

"I didn't take you for a nudist," Theef said judgmentally.

"Hey man. To each his own, but I can't stand this loose tunic any longer."

Klein had made his clothing himself with the help of his mother and some other of the Imeni who could sew and make clothing.

"I'm gonna see about getting a custom-made shirt or at least something similar for the time being."

After stating his intentions, Z'oelo headed towards a stand that looked to be a seamstress's; she herself had a unique build yet her clothes were made to fit her form perfectly.

Gradually, the crew separated in search of clothing and other things that peaked their interests as there were countless places to visit in the busy market.

Null had finally found himself a stall where they sold undergarments that were something he was used to and promptly went to purchase them, but found himself in a predicament.

'Right, no money.'

Since this was the Wanderer's Market, they might not have used the same currency that was in place under Barter's Rulers rule, the Trade Coins.

He prepared to leave the stall, but just as he was about to, the clerk stopped him and asked him a question.

"Do you not have any currency on you? This market is different from most as you can trade items and barter even with things non-physical."

"Like what?"

"Things like compliments usually work from handsome things like you first off," the clerk responded jokingly.

"Haha. I did notice how these undergarments were closely identical to ones worn on my home planet," Null went with it, "What material do you use?"

"This is a material that we use to make softer clothing that is easy on the skin and very breathable. It is known as zambric."

"Where I come from, this material is known as cotton. We used it for all types of clothing, even hats."

"Hats? Out of zambric?"

"Yeah. They're called beanies and they fit snug on your head."

"Now that's an idea! Tell you what kid, I'll let you have the undergarments as long as you show me how these beanies you speak of are made."

Null was surprised at the offer, but inwardly came to the conclusion that information and ideas were definitely an innovative currency when you thought of the renumerations.

If the clerk was able to make more due to the beanies, then it only made sense to offer up something in return.

"Alright deal. Do you have anything to draw with on you?"

The clerk brought out a pen and pad for Null and just like that, he acquired clothes for the first time in years.

'So snug,' Null thought as he wore the comfortable underwear, 'Now my family jewels don't have to be flailing about when I move.'

Weird accomplishments aside, the nude streak Null was on ended and he now went to check on the others as they should have also run into issues without the necessary currency.
