Chapter 87 - CHAPTER 87: Crimson Petals UnleashedThe Bloom of Reckoning

The deeper chambers of the Shadow Ruins were unnervingly silent. No whispers, no torches lighting themselves—only a void of sound and a chilling stillness that unsettled even the bravest among them.

Zhang Xin limped slightly, leaning on Mei Lan's shoulder. The blow from the Shadow Guardian had done more damage than he let on. His breathing was shallow, and blood soaked part of his robe.

"You shouldn't keep walking," Mei Lan whispered urgently.

Zhang Xin shook his head. "We don't have time. The Orb… it's close. I can feel it."

As they entered the final chamber, an eerie glow bathed the walls. Suspended above a jagged pedestal was the Orb of Shadows, pulsing like a heart. But between them and the Orb stood a towering figure, cloaked in smoke. This was no scout. No beast.

This was a Shadow Reaper—an elite warden of the Orb. Its cloak hissed with spectral tendrils, and a crimson blade floated in its grip, dripping with dark essence.

"Back!" Zhang Xin shouted, but it was too late.

The Reaper shot forward like a blur, its blade slashing across Zhang Xin's side with a haunting screech. He dropped to one knee, blood pouring freely. His grip on the Blade of Truth faltered.

"Zhang Xin!" Lian Hua screamed.

Her eyes widened at the sight of his limp body. Something in her snapped.

Her pulse roared in her ears. Her breath shortened. Her petals began to swirl violently.

The sigils on her sword glowed.

"Lian Hua, wait—!" Yuxin tried to stop her, but it was already too late.

A burst of power exploded from Lian Hua's body. Her blade unfolded like a blooming lotus, and ethereal red petals floated around her like razors.

"First Sword Petal: Crimson Bloom of Reckoning!" she cried.

The air cracked with energy as Lian Hua launched herself at the Shadow Reaper.

Petals slashed the air, glowing with ancient magic. The Reaper tried to block, but the petals sliced through its tendrils and cloak, forcing it to the ground. Lian Hua descended with a scream, driving her blade straight into its chest.

The creature shrieked, its body unraveling into black mist—but the recoil of dark energy struck her violently in return. She was thrown back, colliding with the stone floor near Zhang Xin.

Both of them lay unmoving.

"Lian Hua! Zhang Xin!" Yuxin cried.

Mei Lan rushed forward, her healing spells glowing, but the damage was deep. "Their energy is nearly drained. We need to get them out of here. Now."

Chen Bo quickly opened the Stone Realm—a hidden dimension sealed inside the locket Zhang Xin wore. The realm shimmered open, revealing a sanctuary of crystalline stones and warm energy fields.

The team carefully carried the unconscious Zhang Xin and Lian Hua into it, laying them on elevated stone beds surrounded by healing orbs.

Wei Luo clenched his fists. "What now?"

"They've exhausted their life force," Mei Lan said quietly, checking their pulses. "We can heal their wounds, but… waking them is another matter."

Yuxin's eyes welled with worry. "They risked everything. What if they don't wake up?"

No one spoke.

The shadows of the ruins still loomed outside, but inside the Stone Realm, only the sound of soft breathing and flickering energy remained.

The team circled their fallen leaders, determination burning in their hearts.

They would protect them.

They would find a way.

Because this journey wasn't over—not until the Orb of Shadows was claimed… and their friends brought back to life.

Time passed differently inside the Stone Realm. Hours could feel like days—or mere moments. The crystalline sanctuary glowed with a soft, pulsing rhythm, mimicking the heartbeat of the land itself. Zhang Xin and Lian Hua remained still.

Yuxin hadn't left their side.

She sat with her knees drawn to her chest, eyes trained on Lian Hua's face. The warrior's skin was pale, lips colorless. But her sword still hummed faintly beside her—alive, waiting.

"I should've stopped her," Yuxin whispered, guilt threading her voice. "She wouldn't have gone alone if I—"

"She didn't go alone," Mei Lan interrupted gently, setting down a fresh bowl of glowing herbs. "She fought for him. For all of us. And now it's our turn."

Chen Bo paced quietly nearby, fingers tracing the edge of an ancient scroll. "There might be a way. I've been studying the old runes carved into the pedestal where we found the Orb." He unrolled the parchment. "It spoke of a ritual—the Awakening of Light. It's forbidden magic, rarely practiced… but it draws power from shared bonds."

"Shared bonds?" Wei Luo raised a brow. "You mean… like a soul link?"

As the weight of despair hung heavily in the Stone Realm, a quiet determination began to grow within the hearts of the seven companions. Zhang Xin and Lian Hua's lives hung by a thread, and the team knew they had to do something drastic to bring them back.

Chen Bo stepped forward, his voice steady but filled with a sense of urgency. "We've seen the strength of their bond. But it's not just their souls that need to be connected. If all of us link our souls, we can help bring them back."

Yuxin frowned, eyes full of doubt. "You mean... all seven of us?"

"Yes," Chen Bo said. "If our souls are bound together with theirs, we can amplify the bond, infusing the energy needed to revive them. It's a risk, but it's the only way."

Mei Lan hesitated, her fingers trembling slightly as she brushed a strand of hair from her face. "But what if the connection between all of us is too much for their souls to handle? What if it overwhelms them?"

"We have to try," Wei Luo said, his voice filled with fierce resolve. "They've already sacrificed everything for us. It's our turn to protect them."

Xiaobo, who had been standing silently, his flames flickering within him, spoke up. His eyes were filled with the intensity of his fiery attribute. "If we succeed in linking our souls, we can forge new techniques, ones that none of us have ever dreamed of. The cauldron of our soul link will be our crucible. The power will flow, and we'll create something beyond even our current abilities."

The team gathered around Zhang Xin and Lian Hua's unconscious bodies, their hands hovering above the pair. The air felt dense with the weight of their decision, but there was no turning back now. One by one, they placed their palms near the fallen heroes, forming a perfect circle around them.

Chen Bo closed his eyes, and his voice became low, almost a chant. "Let our souls unite, not just for one, but for all. Bind us together, as one light."

As the words left his lips, each of the team members began to glow with their own energy. First, it was a faint shimmer, but then their lights began to intertwine. The bright energy from Yuxin's determination, Mei Lan's healing magic, Wei Luo's strength, the fiery brilliance of Xiaobo's flames, and the wisdom of Chen Bo, along with the raw power of their hearts, began to blend together.

The aura surrounding Zhang Xin and Lian Hua grew stronger, the air crackling with an otherworldly force. Slowly, the light from the seven members began to spiral around the two unconscious figures, and the threads of energy began to fuse into one brilliant, blinding beam.

The connection between them deepened, pulling their souls together into one singular force.

In that moment, something began to take shape in the very center of their bond. An ethereal cauldron materialized, swirling with all the energy they had combined. This cauldron was not merely an object—it was the forge of their collective soul power, a vessel where their souls could merge and create something new, something greater than the sum of their individual strengths.

Suddenly, the overwhelming light became blinding, and the stone beneath them vibrated as if alive. The entire Stone Realm hummed with the surge of power.

Then, in a heartbeat, the energy hit its peak.

Zhang Xin's chest heaved as he took in a sharp breath, his eyes fluttering open. At the same moment, Lian Hua's body jerked slightly, and her eyes snapped open with a sudden clarity. They both gasped for air as life flowed back into them, their souls reigniting with the power of the soul link.

The team staggered back, breathing heavily from the effort. The glow around them slowly began to fade, but the bond they had created remained. Zhang Xin and Lian Hua lay there, still recovering, but their bodies and spirits had been restored.

Zhang Xin turned his gaze to Lian Hua, his eyes filled with gratitude. "We... we're alive."

Lian Hua smiled weakly, her voice barely a whisper. "We are... because of all of you."

The seven stood together, their hearts beating in unison, their souls forever linked by the bond they had forged. Through their unity, they had revived their fallen comrades, and now, no matter what challenges lay ahead, they knew they could face them together.

And in the cauldron that had formed through their connection, new techniques began to manifest. The energy of their souls was no longer just a link—it was now the catalyst for forging unique abilities, ones that no one had ever thought possible. Techniques that blended fire, healing, swordsmanship, and elemental mastery into something new.

Xiaobo, feeling the surge of heat within him, smirked. "It's time to see what our bond has truly forged. These new techniques will be our weapon... and our salvation."

They were stronger than ever before.
