Chapter 10 - Disappointing

A long, wagon-shaped armory begins to open.

A guard speaks: "Choose your weapon, and when your number is called, you will be directed to the arena whose number is indicated. The rules will be explained to you by the arena referee".

Many people picked up weapons, but others didn't, including Asura, who could rely on his shadows to provide him with weapons.

"N66 vs. N89 Arena 1" and several others were called out by one of the guards.

Asura started walking towards the indicated arena, a child's voice speaking in her head.

("Dad, when can I come and train with you?")

Asura replied like a parent unwilling to deny his child's request.

("Dad promises that as soon as he finishes what he has to do, we will train.")

Surprisingly, Asura had gotten used to being a parent, but especially a parent who spoiled his child well.

Back from his thoughts, Asura stood on a black arena made of an unknown material, the arena was flat, the referee stood at the edge, his mask was yellow and he looked like the other guards with some differences on the outfit, which was white instead of black, it looked more like a tunic, N89 wore the same outfit as Asura, but his mask did not resemble that of a demon like Asura, but rather that of a monkey with an arrogant mouse instead of a lip, and he also carried a sword delivered earlier at his waist.

The referee spoke: "The rules are simple, everything is allowed when you step out of the ring and are eliminated, you can give up if you want, the fight starts as soon as I say start, it only stops when your opponent is dead or unable to continue, so get into position, the fight is about to begin".

Asura looked N89 straight in the eye and said calmly in a voice devoid of emotion, cold one might even say icy.

"Surrender or you'll die " after saying this, he moved into a fighting stance, his two hands resembling a dagger, ready to pierce any opponent.

N89 stepped forward, holding his sword in front of him. He frowned under his mask and prepared to respond to Asura's challenge.

"We'll see if your arrogance gets you far."

The referee raised his arm, surveyed both fighters, and announced the start of the match.

"FIGHT!"

N89 began to lunge at Asura, but what happened next surprised most of the people in the arena, the sound of clashing swords had stopped, a heavy silence reigned in the atmosphere, all eyes turned to the arena where Asura stood.

N89 attacked Asura, but what followed was unexpected. Suddenly, Asura moved quickly in front of N89 and fatally stabbed him in the heart with his bare hand.

"Burgh Burgh," N89 spat blood from his mouth as life left him and blood gushed from under his mask.

Asura approached N89 in his final moment of lucidity and whispered, "It's not arrogance, you're just weak.

You can only blame your own weakness."

While wiping his bloody hand on his suit, Asura pulled his hand away from N89's chest, exposing the cavity where his heart once was.

He looked at the referee, waiting for the end of the fight to be announced. The referee was momentarily shocked before declaring the winner of the battle. The stadium was completely silent, making it feel as if there were no other matches happening.

Asura returned to his seat, sensing the gazes upon him, but remaining indifferent. He leaned back, crossed his legs, rested his head on his hand, and watched the match.

The bystanders moved a few yards away, with some looking at him fearfully while others showed disgust. Nobody knew what Asura was thinking, but his behavior was unusual.

("It's disappointing that the initial fight was such a letdown.")
