"Puff, puff, puff—"
The bodies of Dong Lingxue and Erin were tightly protected by a soft white light. As the guards noticed their escape, they began shooting at them. The bullets created ripples on the energy protection shield.
Dong Lingxue's hand was tightly held by Erin as they ran wildly towards the darkness ahead.
Her mind was in chaos, the sinister and bloody scenes she had encountered earlier almost robbed her of all decision-making ability.
She fixed her gaze on Erin's fluttering golden hair, trying hard to calm her racing heart a little before asking, slightly trembling.
"Where... are we going?"
"I don't know."
Erin shook her head, her voice bright and pleasant. As she spoke, it seemed to drive away some of the surrounding darkness and gloom.
"But it's better than stupidly staying back there waiting to die... Haven't you realized? We've already been made sacrifices for some evil ritual."
