Naruto SI: Kaito Red Lightnin Chapter 189

Author's Note:

Hey guys!

Sorry for the delay—this chapter was getting way too long, so I had to split it. The next chapter will finally feature Kushina getting healed, so stay tuned!

Just then, Kaito's shadow clone stepped forward. "Alright, alright, don't get too excited yet," the clone said, pointing to the second rogue shinobi lying on the next bed. "We still need to test it on the other one. Can't rule out the chance this was a one-time fluke, ya know."

Kaito couldn't wipe the smile off his face, but he nodded. "Yeah… you're right."

Tsunade agreed with a nod. "Let's verify it. We need consistency before calling it a success."

She moved over to the second rogue shinobi—this one from the Land of Stone. The shadow clone followed, placing the seal tag carefully on the man's forehead. Once it was in place, he stepped back and gave the original Kaito a nod.

Kaito turned to the others. "Ready?"

Tsunade gave a curt nod. "Ready."

Hitomi smiled softly. "Hai. Ready, Kaito-kun."

Kaito closed his eyes, inhaled deeply, then opened them and formed a one-handed tiger seal. "Kai."

The seal burst to life in the same bright green light as before, briefly flooding the room. Then, slowly, the glow faded, and the tag dissolved completely, just like the first time.

Hitomi's eyes scanned the man's body. She nodded, smiling. "Hai. The seal worked. His chakra coils are fully healed. Everything's functioning normally."

Tsunade removed her hand from the man's abdomen and confirmed, "Yeah. The chakra network is completely intact. It's working perfectly."

Kaito's face lit up the moment Tsunade confirmed it. He couldn't stop the grin from spreading across his face. Fist-pumping the air, he jumped up, shouting, "Yatta! It worked—it finally worked, ya know!"

Years of research. Years of failure. And now… success.

Kaito had spent what felt like a lifetime trying to find a way to heal his mother. And now, with the Sage Art: Life-Pulse Regeneration Seal, he can finally do it.

Overwhelmed with emotion, he spun around and pulled his shadow clone into a tight hug. The clone, just as excited, hugged him back, and the two jumped around in circles, shouting together, "It worked! It worked!"

Hitomi covered her mouth with one hand, chuckling warmly at the sight. "Kaito-kun… you're going to pop Clone-kun if you squeeze him any tighter," she said, amused by the way both Kaito and his clone bounced around like overexcited kids.

Even Tsunade couldn't hide the smile tugging at the corner of her lips as she watched him celebrate. Hands on her hips, she slowly walked over.

Kaito let go of his clone and turned to them, beaming. "I have to get Mom! She can be healed today, ya know!"

But just as he was about to teleport away, Tsunade reached out and grabbed his shoulder. "Yeah, not so fast, brat."

Kaito blinked, confused. "Huh? What? Why?"

Tsunade sighed, her tone calm but firm. "Even if the experiment was a success, we can't risk trying it on Kushina just yet. I need to run tests on these two and keep them under observation for a while—make sure there aren't any hidden side effects."

Hitomi stepped in, patting Kaito gently on the shoulder. "We can't be too hasty, Kaito-kun. It's better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to your mother."

Kaito's shoulders slumped a little, the rush of excitement slowly giving way to understanding. "Right… yeah, that makes sense. How long do you think it'll take?

Tsunade shrugged. "Maybe two days. It could be a week. Maybe even longer. It really depends on how the tests go."

She noticed his enthusiasm fading and reached up to ruffle his hair with a small smile. "Don't look so down. Kushina's waited ten years, hasn't she? A few more days won't change much. This is your mother's life we're talking about. We can't afford to be reckless."

Hitomi gave Kaito's shoulder a reassuring pat. "Cheer up, Kaito-kun. The seal works—you've achieved something people thought was impossible. We just have to wait a little longer, that's all."

Kaito nodded, letting out a sigh. "Yeah… I understand. I don't wanna risk Mom's life either. It's just…" He looked down, voice soft. "I really thought we'd be able to heal her today, ya know?" His shoulders drooped, disappointment written across his face.

Tsunade crossed her arms. "Well, no point moping around. If you want results quickly, I'll have to assign Shizune to begin tests on both subjects immediately."

She then gestured toward the beds. "I'll be taking these as well. Getting them to the hospital will help speed everything up."

Kaito scratched his head, nodding. "Yeah, sure. I can have them moved, but we'll need to set up seal barriers in the room to block out interference, ya know."

Tsunade gave him a deadpan look. "Then what are you standing around for? I'll arrange a room. Get both of them transferred and start setting up your seals."

Just then, Kaito's shadow clone raised a hand. "Uh, boss… we still haven't tried the other thing yet."

Kaito's eyes widened. "Oh, right! I kinda forgot about that."

Tsunade's brow arched. "Other thing?" She looked between the original and the clone. "What are you talking about?"

Kaito shifted a little under Tsunade's stare. "So… the Life-Pulse Regeneration Seal might also—well, in theory—revive someone."

Hitomi's eyes widened. "Revive? As in… bring someone back from the dead?"

Tsunade's eyes narrowed. "A theory," she repeated flatly.

Kaito scratched the back of his head. "Yeah… something like that. It's kind of like using a defibrillator to restart someone's heart, ya know? But in this case, the seal uses senjutsu chakra—natural energy, which is basically life energy. If the seal is applied within a certain time after death, it might… well, revive them."

Tsunade's expression didn't change. "Are you sure?"

Kaito nodded slowly. "I mean… I tested it on a fish once. It had just died, and when I used the seal, it revived. But when I waited an hour after it died and tried again, it didn't work. The body wouldn't heal properly either. So yeah, there's a time limit, ya know."

Tsunade stared at him for a long moment, then huffed. "Fine. Show me."

"Eh?" Kaito blinked. "On who? I thought you needed the other two to run tests on. Reviving them might mess with the data, ya know?"

Tsunade sighed, turned toward the desk, and grabbed a sheet of paper. She quickly scribbled something down, stamped it with her chakra, then turned back and handed it to Kaito.

"Take this to Ibiki. Tell him I need a death row inmate—now," she said firmly. "And make it quick. I've got work to do. Also, send your shadow clone to get those two transferred to the hospital." She pointed at the rogue shinobi still under stasis.

She then formed a hand seal, creating a shadow clone of her own. "Take my clone with you."

Kaito nodded, took the paper from Tsunade's hand, and disappeared in a flash of red.

Meanwhile, Kaito's shadow clones got to work, carefully lifting the two rogue shinobi and teleporting them, alongside Tsunade's clone, straight to the hospital.

Tsunade let out a long sigh as she sat down again. Hitomi walked over and took the seat next to her.

Rubbing her temple, Tsunade muttered, "Things are never simple with that kid, are they?"

Hitomi chuckled softly. "No, they're not. But that's Kaito-kun for you… always full of surprises."

...

A while later, Kaito stepped back after carefully placing the Life-Pulse Regeneration Seal on the dead shinobi's forehead. He glanced at the others. "Ready?"

Tsunade looked up from the tablet, her expression focused. She gave a firm nod. "Ready."

Hitomi, her Byakugan already activated, kept her eyes locked on the target. "Ready," she said calmly.

Kaito raised his hand into a half-tiger seal and said, "Kai."

The seal lit up instantly, glowing the same vibrant green as before. The light spread across the rogue shinobi's body, engulfing him completely. After a few moments, it slowly began to fade, the seal dissolving into nothing.

Hitomi suddenly gasped, her eyes wide. "His heart… It's beating again. He's alive!"

Tsunade frowned, quickly checking the readings on the diagnostic tablet. "Brain activity is normal… all vitals are stable…" She looked up from the screen and said, "Remove the stasis seal."

Kaito nodded and deactivated the seal.

The rogue shinobi shot upright with a gasp. "Wah—!"

His eyes darted around in confusion. "What… where—" He suddenly jumped off the table, panicked and disoriented. But before he could react further, chakra chains wrapped around him and held him in place.

He thrashed for a moment, still dazed, eyes wide. He looked at the chains restraining him, then followed them back to the one controlling them—Kaito.

"Who—what the hell?!"

Tsunade walked over, her gaze sharp as she stared down at the restrained shinobi. "Itashi Iwara," she said firmly. "What's the last thing you remember?"

His head snapped toward her at the sound of his name. He blinked once, then twice, before stammering, "Tsunade...? What… what just happened?"

Without warning, Tsunade slapped him across the face—not hard, but sharp enough to snap his attention back.

"Focus," she said, her voice cold and commanding.

Itashi froze, blinking rapidly as he slowly calmed down.

Then Tsunade repeated, "Itashi Iwara, what is the last thing you remember?"

He looked past her, eyes landing on Kaito. "That kid… knocking me out," he muttered, jerking his chin toward him.

Tsunade gave a short nod, then glanced at Kaito. "Knock him out again."

Without hesitation, Kaito raised his hand and tapped Itashi's temple with a controlled burst of chakra. The rogue's body went limp instantly, the chains holding him gently lowering him back onto the bed.

Tsunade let out a long sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Well… that worked."

Hitomi stared at the now-unconscious shinobi, still stunned. "I didn't think that would actually be possible…"

Kaito rubbed the back of his head. "Eh… so, what now?"

Tsunade turned to him, her expression deadly serious. She stared at him in silence for a moment before speaking.

"Everything that just happened here is now classified as an S-ranked secret," she said firmly. "No one is allowed to speak of it. Not to anyone. Not even your closest friends."

Kaito blinked, then nodded slowly. "I'm fine with that. It's not like anyone else could make it anyway. Only someone who has access to senjutsu chakra can make it… and even for me, it takes a whole month's worth of chakra to make just one seal."

"Brat," Tsunade snapped, cutting him off. "You don't understand how serious this is. If word gets out about that seal, you won't just be targeted—your family will be too. People will come for you, for Kushina, for Naruto. There are entire nations that would kill for something like this."

"Eh… I understand," Kaito said, rubbing the back of his head. "But… I was kinda thinking of giving my friends one seal each, ya know? Just in case something ever happens to them…"

Tsunade sighed but gave a reluctant nod. "You can give your friends one if you really want to… but the revival ability stays between us. I don't want anyone else learning about that part, understood?"

She fixed Kaito with a serious look. "I know your friends are trustworthy, but it's necessary that as few people as possible know what the seal is truly capable of. Even its advanced healing abilities should only be shared with those you trust completely."

Hiashi sat in his study, brush in hand, as he quietly worked on a scroll. The room was calm, lit by soft morning light—until suddenly, there was a faint pop of chakra.

Hitomi and Kaito appeared in the center of the room. Hitomi staggered slightly from the sudden shift in space.

Kaito's hand darted out, steadying her before she tipped over.

"Ah, thank you, Kaito-kun," Hitomi chuckled, smoothing her kimono. "Still not quite used to Hiraishin."

"Sorry about that, ya know." Kaito gave Hiashi a respectful nod. "Thank you again, Hiashi-sama… and Lady Hitomi, for helping out. I'll be off now."

With a soft puff of smoke, he vanished.

Hiashi set down his brush and looked over. "How did it go?"

Hitomi sat down across from him, pouring tea for both of them. "The seal works. Lady Tsunade wants to run a few more tests on the subjects before proceeding with Kushina."

Hiashi nodded. "I see. Then it all went well."

Hitomi smiled as she handed him a cup. "Hotaru-chan is lucky, isn't she? I really hope she and Kaito-kun end up together someday."

Hiashi took a sip of his tea and gave a simple nod. "Yes."

Hitomi raised a brow. "Huh… Are you feeling alright, dear? You just agreed that Kaito-kun is good for Hotaru. Normally, you'd grumble and say something about them being too young."

Hiashi gave a small hum, setting his cup down. "I never said they weren't good for each other. I just thought they were too young for that sort of thing." He paused, his gaze thoughtful. "But seeing the lengths he goes to for the people he loves…"

He looked at her, eyes steady. "There isn't a better match we could wish for Hotaru."
