This garden didn't require the painstaking effort involved in Official Tang's renovation project; Ye Xinyan didn't use her brain at all. Without the limitations of a fixed location, she directly copied a typical small Suzhou garden from the modern era.
She sketched out an outline for Zhou Biyao, highlighted the key styles, and left the rest for Zhou Biyao to develop.
The Suzhou Gardens form a system of their own, tested through the long river of time and generations of literati. The various specifications of the gardens allow for grandeur and breadth in large ones, and delicacy and cleverness in small ones.
