"Dance with me, Kai," Tiasses said, dragging him forward.
"You know I can't dance to this kind of music," he protested as she pulled him along.
Elizabeth stood at the edge of the floor, watching Ariel dance with her husband, a soft smile on her lips—until a towering figure stopped before her.
She lifted her large obsidian eyes, her heart skipping when she realized it was the man she had been stealing glances at during dinner.
"May I have the honor of this dance, miss?" Samuel asked politely, bowing slightly. His calm, deep voice—and the courtesy in his manner—made her heart flutter.
Momentarily at a loss for words, she opened her mouth, then closed it again. Samuel waited patiently. Realizing she had lingered too long in her thoughts, she finally snapped back.
"O–okay," she stuttered.
Without another word, Samuel took her hand and led her onto the dance floor.
Nearby, Alicia approached Knox and extended her hand toward him.
"Dance with me."
