Chapter 85 - XWC : GRAVITY'S PULL

Outside Veyruun, the air tasted like ash and ozone.

Veyruun's will had fully taken Xaphan's body now. The borrowed flesh stopped shaking. Stopped hesitating. When he exhaled, the temperature dropped 10 degrees.

The battlefield stretched like a war-torn painting. Scorched earth. Shattered stone. Smoke curling off the ribs of broken barriers. And in the center stood him.

Xaphan, possessed.

His coat snapped in a wind that wasn't there. Chi bled off him in black-gold waves, making the ground hiss where it touched.

The Grandmasters made their stand.

Yagushi, Fei, and Jiang formed a triangle around him. Elite Wushu Guan Grandmasters. Legends. Their blades were drawn, stances perfect, but their boots were digging trenches just from his pressure.

VROOOOM!!

Xaphan moved first. No warning. His palm shot out and the space between them warped.

Yagushi met it head-on, "Earth Wall!" A slab of stone rose like a beast's fang. Xaphan's strike turned it to powder.

KRAKOOOM.

Fei slid in low, twin sabers flashing. Xaphan twisted, caught one blade between two fingers, and snapped it.

TING-SHINK.

Jiang came from above, descending like a comet, fist wreathed in flame. "Blazing Fist!"

Xaphan looked up, bored. He exhaled again.

FWOOOSH-BOOM!

A Burst Pulse flattened the flames and sent Jiang skidding back 50 meters, plowing a furrow through the dirt. His arm sizzled, skin peeled back.

Xaphan tilted his head. "Three Grandmasters. One body. I'm not even warmed up."

Across the field, Zabuza and his men had formed a defensive line. But they weren't fighting Xaphan.

They were fighting him.

Xaphan's clones.

Dozens of them. Each one moving like the original, same coat, same grin, same death in their eyes. They poured across the field like spilled ink.

SHHK. SHHK. SHHK.

Steel met steel. Zabuza's cleaver took one clone's head clean off. It laughed as it dissolved into mist, then reformed behind him.

"They don't stop!" one of Zabuza's men shouted, blocking a thrust that came from three angles at once.

Zabuza spat blood. "Then we don't either. Circle up! Protect the wounded!"

The clones moved as one organism. No fear. No fatigue. Just Xaphan's will split into a hundred bodies. For every one Zabuza cut down, two more stepped over the corpse.

Back at the center of the battle, Yagushi's gi was torn, blood running down his temple. "He's not fighting like Xaphan. He's testing the body's limits."

Jiang coughed, wiped black blood from his lip. "Veyruun's soul is stronger than we thought."

Fei steadied his stance, though his saber was half-broken. "Then we break the body before he masters it."

They charged again. Three masters, one tempo. Blades, fists, and techniques collided with Xaphan in the middle.

BOOM. CRACK. WHOOOSH.

Xaphan laughed. A real, cruel sound that cut through the chaos. He flowed between them like water, each strike precise, each counter brutal. When Yagushi tried to grab him, Xaphan reversed the gravity for half a second and slammed him into the sky. When Jiang threw another fireball, Xaphan suspended its heat and let it fizzle dead mid-air.

He wasn't just stronger. He was rewriting the rules mid-fight.

"Is that all?" Xaphan asked, catching Fei's broken saber and tossing it aside. "The Wushu Guan's finest, and you still kneel to peace?"

Below them, Zabuza roared as another clone pinned two of his men. "Fall back to the ridge! Now!"

But the clones were faster. The battlefield was turning into a graveyard.

Above it all, Veyruun's voice whispered from Xaphan's mouth, layered and inhuman: "You bleed well. But bleeding isn't enough."

The sky above Veyruun began to crack. Red light spilled through. The air itself was screaming.

And Xaphan raised both hands. Not to strike. To end it.

The ground went silent, waiting for the next breath.

While Xaphan tore into the Grandmasters, another fight went feral in the shadows.

Zirkyu stood in half-primal form. Bloodfang Transformation.

Bones cracked and reformed. Muscles bulged past human limits. His claws stretched long, black with chi, dripping like wet knives. Fangs pushed past his lips, living conduits of raw energy.

Sifu Mei was backed into a broken pillar. Breath ragged. Her students Lei and Ryou were gone from sight.

But her eyes showed no weakness. She forced herself up, knees shaking.

Zirkyu clicked his fangs, saliva sizzling where it hit stone. "Can't you just die already so I can move on to the next one? We don't have all day."

GROOOWWWL.

Mei charged. A last burst of speed, sword aimed at his throat.

It never landed.

Zirkyu's claw flashed down.

SHHRRRAAKK.

Mei twisted at the last second. The claw missed her chest but carved a trench through her side. Flesh peeled open. Blood sprayed across the rubble.

She gritted her teeth and didn't fall.

Zirkyu licked blood off his claw, grin splitting wider as his bones shifted again. His shoulders hunched. His spine bowed. The beast was getting louder.

"That dodge was decent," he said, voice dropping deeper, rougher. "But your body's done, Mei. And I'm just getting started."

Mei's back hit stone. Nowhere left to run. Death was one breath away.

In her mind, the world slowed. She didn't want it to end like this. Not without seeing Hibiki one last time. The man she'd crossed the world to save.

Memories ripped through her.

Xaphan's blade going through him. Zirkyu's laugh as he fell. The way his hand slipped from hers.

Then other scenes. Quieter ones. Nights in the dojo. Hibiki watching her train, then stop.

Then a Flashback,

Rain hit the wooden roof. Mei was twelve,You don' arms crossed, refusing to lift a finger.

Hibiki set a teacup down in front of her. "You froze again on the mission today."

"I'm not using it," Mei said, voice flat. "Not his ability."

"Your father's Mass Manipulation?" Hibiki asked softly.

She flinched at the word father. "He never cared to teach me, he cared more about you. Well I won't be his second choice."

Hibiki didn't argue. He just pushed the tea closer. "Then don't use it for him, Mei. Use it for the person you're trying to protect. That's the difference between power and purpose."

Mei looked away, ashamed. "I'd rather be weak than be him."

Hibiki smiled, sad and steady. "Weak is refusing to save someone because you're scared of who taught you how. That's not strength. That's pride. And pride gets people killed."

The memory faded. Blood ran down Mei's side where Zirkyu's claw opened her.

She was Wang Chun clan. Her father's gift ran in her blood. Bujutsu: Mass Overload. Gravity's Pull. The ability to bend weight, crush armor, and at its peak make a mountain feel like paper, unlikely.

She'd hated him for it. Hated that he poured his time into another child in their home while she watched from the corner. So she buried the technique. Refused to touch it. Even when it cost her missions. Even when it cost her pride.

Zirkyu growled, stepping closer, claws dripping. "No more running. Time to end this."

Mei looked down at her trembling hands. Then at the blood pooling at her feet.

Hibiki's voice echoed in her head, not sad this time. Firm. "Pride gets people killed, Mei."

Her fingers curled. The air around her hand felt heavier. Denser.

For the first time in years, she didn't push the power away.

The air around Mei's hand thickened. Dust stopped falling. It hung, suspended.

Zirkyu noticed. His grin faltered. "What are you—"

"Gravity's Pull," Mei whispered.

WHOOOM.

The space around Zirkyu's legs suddenly weighed ten times more. Stone cracked under his boots. His knees buckled as his feral body, already heavy from Bloodfang Transformation, became an anchor.

"GHHK!" Zirkyu roared, claws digging trenches as he tried to stay upright. Bones in his legs screamed. "You... you never use that trash!"

Mei stepped forward, blood still running down her side. Her eyes weren't shaking anymore. "I said I wouldn't use it for him."

She raised her other hand. The rubble around her lifted. Broken pillars. Shattered steel. Chunks of stone. All of it doubled in mass, then tripled.

Zirkyu forced himself up half an inch, muscles bulging, spine bowing. "Savage Ascension doesn't care about weight!" He lunged, claws swinging.

SHRAAKK!

Mei twisted. His claw tore air. She slammed both palms forward.

"Mass Overload!"

KRAKOOOM-BOOM!

Every piece of debris she'd lifted dropped at once. Ten tons of stone and metal crashed down on Zirkyu like a collapsing roof. The impact blew dust in a shockwave that knocked Mei back a step.

For three seconds, silence.

Then the pile shifted.

GRRRRAAAHH!

Claws burst through stone. Zirkyu ripped his way out, coat torn, one arm bent wrong, blood foaming at his fangs. His body was reshaping again, growing wilder, less human. The longer Bloodfang stayed active, the more the beast ate his mind.

He staggered out, breathing like a bellows. "You think that'll stop me? I'm not done yet!"

Mei wiped blood from her mouth. Her legs shook, but her stance didn't. "Neither am I."

The air between them warped again. Not as heavy as before. She was bleeding out. But enough.

Enough to end this.

Zirkyu dropped low, muscles coiling. "Then let's see whose body breaks first!"

The ground split between them, waiting.
